RCG is a growing federal contracting company and Certified as a Great Place to Work. We are currently seeking a Lead Network Administrator to support our government client in Silver Spring, MD. Hybrid work schedule may be available with the consent from the customer. Please note: Due to the secure nature of this government agency, all candidates must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident and be eligible for a Public Trust clearance. The successful candidate will receive a contingent offer based on the outcome of a government background check. This may take several weeks, and the candidate cannot begin actual employment until the background check is successfully completed. Job Responsibilities/Duties: Specifically, the Lead Network Administrator will need to have experience and expertise on the following Protocols, systems, technologies:
- Voice over IP
- Multi-Protocol Labeling Switched Networks
- PLS and SIP
- Wired cat 5 and 6 LANs; Wireless LANs
- Unix and Windows system administration (sizing, installation, configuration, and maintenance) for network management platforms.
- Routers (Cisco - all models); Switches (Cisco all models)
- Load Balancers-F5
- Routing and Switching: Expertise in configuring and managing Cisco and Juniper routers and switches, including knowledge of routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF) and switching technologies (e.g., VLANs, spanning tree).
- Network Security: Experience with firewalls (e.g., Cisco ASA, Juniper SRX), intrusion detection/prevention systems, and security best practices.
- Network Operating Systems: Deep understanding of both Cisco IOS and Juniper JUNOS.
- Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve network issues, including using packet capture tools and traffic analysis.
- Network Design and Implementation: Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining network solutions, potentially including cloud networking (e.g., Cisco ACI, Juniper Contrail).
- Automation: Familiarity with network automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet) and scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
- Documentation: Ability to create and maintain clear and concise technical documentation. Ability to transfer knowledge into usable Knowledge Articles
- Experience supporting, designing and integrating complex enterprise-level wireless networks
- Strong technical project management, communication, and engineering skills
- Knowledge and familiarity of fundamental computers, network, and trade theories, principles, and concepts
Additionally, Network Administrators will have the following certifications:
- An Active Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification or higher
- An Active JNCIS-SP certification or higher
- ITIL v3 Certifications
