Department Summary

The mission of the Division of Student Affairs is to create transformational experiences for all HSC students by providing tailored support and fostering holistic development. There are 8 functional units within the Division of Student Affairs: Center for Student Life, Career Readiness Center, Center for Academic Performance, Office of Care and Civility, Testing and Evaluation Services, International Services, Office of Disability Access, and Student Assistance Resource Center.

Position Overview

The Director Student Assistance Resource Center is a mid-manager position which provides supervision, coaching, and mentoring to fulltime professional staff members within their area of responsibility. The Position coordinates programs, services, and activities in an effort to promote student learning outcomes established within each academic program on campus. The goal of this position is to create opportunities to promote learning, ethical decision making, scholarship, and leadership within the student body. Student services are designed to enhance the quality of the students learning experience both in and out of the classroom environment. The development of each student as a whole (Mind, Body, and Spirit) is the primary purpose for this position and the employees reporting to this position.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and six (6) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Crisis Management expertise in a higher education setting.
  • Familiarity with federal and state regulations.
  • Ability to supervise and manage teams.
  • Strong organizational skills.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Masters degree and/or six years of experience in a related field.
  • Experience in crisis management, coaching, and wellbeing programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Crisis Management expertise in a higher education setting.
  • Familiarity with federal and state regulations (FERPA, Clery Act, Title IX, etc.).

Job Duties:



  • Provide leadership and supervision of the Student Assistance Resource Center; including budgeting and assessment.
  • Serve as the co-chair of the Care Team, assisting in oversight of Care Team programs, services, and response.
  • Oversee the Student Assistance Resource Center operations, including the Fitness Center, Student Food Pantry, Student Clothing Closet and Student Emergency Fund.
  • Serve in an on-call rotation to respond to student crisis and advise on referral and support plan for students.
  • Develop collaborative partnerships and programs across campus, both inside and outside the classroom, to ensure strategic integration of basic needs programs, initiatives, and services.
  • Provide leadership for the continued development and implementation of the Pathway Program and Wellness Coaching services.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, with occasional evenings or weekends as required for divisional events.
