What You'll Do:
- Conduct or assist with special projects and tests as assigned by Quality Assurance Manager/Lead.
- Must be able to perform all online and lab quality control checks including attributes, fill checks, visual seams, teardowns, and finished product grading.
- Responsible to independently perform test rechecks based upon the established quality and food safety standards and to report deviations from the standards to the Quality Assurance Manager/lead as well as the appropriate Production Operations Manager/Assist Ops Manager.
- Must be able to identify and react to problems that need correction immediately and act independently to place ingredients and materials on hold and shutdown the production line(s) if necessary.
- Must be able to function as a team leader during the evaluation and disposition activities (re-inspection, rework, disposal, etc.) of ingredients, materials, or product that has been rejected or held for quality reasons.
- Must possess good sensory faculties and communication skills.
- Files records and maintain quality control files.
- Must maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner to promote both accurate management of data collection/processing and a safe workplace environment.
- Make necessary copies for daily usage and for deviation.
- Update databases, spreadsheets and maintain files as assigned.
- Prepare test product sample cans, as requested.
- Must immediately notify the Quality Assurance Manager/Supervisor or other management or supervisory staff if any unsafe or potentially hazardous conditions are discovered.
- Be able to identify deviations and assist in the proper segregation, and paperwork necessary as well as helping to bring specs back in line before starting lines back up.
- May perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager/Supervisor
- Must adhere to all Lakeside Foods policies and procedures.
What You'll Bring: Knowledge:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Six or more months of related experience and/or training desired but not necessary.
- Have attended or be able to complete upon hire better process control school, HACCP training, and SQF training.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read, write, speak English, and comprehend simple instructions and short correspondence.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute ratios, and percentages.
- Must be able to understand employ the concepts of minimum, average, and maximum for to enter data onto simple control charts.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
