The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are currently seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to join our Data Center Innovation team as a member of our Engineering and Design division. As the Lead Electrical Engineer, you will lead system design, coordination between internal and external stakeholders, and be the go-to point person for deliverable content.

The Data Center Innovations Engineering Team supports and uplifts the data center work at McKinstry. Whether a 100 Megawatt Design-Build construction project, an offsite manufacturing product, or a consulting-only opportunity, the Engineering expertise comes from this team. This position is an opportunity to be part of a fast growing, high performing team, that is focused on delivering smart solutions.

Responsibilities will include:

Team Management

* Delegate specific design tasks to team members and manages project deliverables.

* Coordinate with internal design and construction teams.

* Identify resource needs to meet project deadlines.

* Train and mentor project engineers.

Project Management

  • Document project correspondence, issues, decisions and directions.

  • Create and promote the use of existing standardized design tools.

  • Manage team's workload to deliver assigned projects on time and in budget.

  • Provide engineering analysis to support sales and early design efforts.

  • Define, communicate, and manage scope, design intent, and design process for direct supervisor review.

  • Identify and alert to changes in scope, schedule, budget, or expectations.

  • Demonstrate understanding of overall project objectives and employs creative problem solving to achieve objectives within budget and resources.

Engineering

* Coach/delegate electrical systems design including load calculations, generator

studies, power systems studies to include TCC curves, harmonic calculations, renewable systems design, and mission critical redundancy systems design.

* Direct and contribute to production of building information models for design and

construction phases of projects.

* Perform coordination with internal and external team members.

* Identify opportunities for process and technology improvements.

* Mission critical equipment specifications and procurement support

Customer Relations

* Attend regular design meetings with customers and external stakeholders.

* Represent McKinstry in the community through participation in professional industry groups critical to McK's LOBs.

What we would like to see from you:

  • Eight years (8) year experience in a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline required or equivalent work experience required.
  • Advanced Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Understanding of PUE calculations
  • Five (5) years of experience in 2D/3D Auto CAD and/ or Revit preferred. Knowledge of other CAD/BIM tools welcome.
  • Engineering in Training Certificate preferred.
  • LEED accreditation preferred

The pay range for this position is $95,310 - $140,130 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
