Inspire the Service at Embassy Suites as a Banquet Captain!
The Embassy Suites is seeking a dynamic and experienced full-time Banquet Captain to supervise and manage all banquet events for our full-service hotel and conference center located in the heart of downtown Rockford.
Set along the beautiful Rock River, our allsuite property isn't just a place to stay-it's a destination. Guests enjoy two fullservice restaurants, a seasonal rooftop bar with skyline views, gaming room, indoor saltwater pool, and spacious suites-all within walking distance of downtown shops and attractions. With 160 guest rooms, 12 meeting rooms, 14,000sqft of event space, plus an additional 20,000sqft conference center, we host everything from weekend getaways to major corporate events to life.
In this role, you'll oversee all banquet event operations with a hands-on, guest-first approach-ensuring seating, service, setup, and safety all align to deliver flawless and memorable experiences. You'll lead your team, coordinate with the kitchen, manage staffing and provide training, and proactively exceed guest expectations-all while maintaining pristine venues and upholding quality and service benchmarks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcoming guests upon their arrival and assisting them with their seating arrangements.
- Assisting managers and organizers with planning the layout and logistics of events.
- Setting up and managing staff shifts and timetables.
- Developing and providing staff with the necessary training, including customer service and serving etiquette.
- Managing the setup of events.
- Running the floor and coordinating the food and drink service by liaising with the kitchen and service staff.
- Monitoring the inventory of supplies, equipment, and furniture.
- Tending to guests' requests, questions, and complaints.
- Ensuring that the venue and facilities remain neat and clean.
- Ensuring that all applicable safety regulations are communicated and adhered to.
What We're Looking For:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Degree in hospitality or similar preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Banquet Captain or similar.
- Excellent leadership abilities and the ability to manage many staff members.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- The ability to provide an excellent level of customer service, even in stressful situations.
- Willingness to work long hours, irregular shifts, and on weekends and holidays.
