Senior Grid & Market Settlements Analyst

Grid & Market Operations Performance & Analytics processes market settlements and supports the analytics development for operational strategies to optimize PGE's energy portfolio and grid operations for strategic projects that include integration and optimization of energy supply and energy delivery assets in EIM and EDAM. Supports Real Time and Grid Operations by maintaining training that ensures management and staff training needs are identified, fulfilled and documented as related to market settlement activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Settlement Management: Support the development and implementation of settlement processes, including the configuration of new and modified charge codes, and the validation of settlement calculations to ensure financial accuracy and alignment with market rules for EIM and EDAM.

  • Risk Mitigation: Identify, assess, and address risks related to metering and settlement processes. Implement controls and corrective actions to prevent errors that could impact financial outcomes or regulatory compliance.

  • Stakeholder Coordination: Serve as a point of contact for metering and settlement-related queries, working closely with internal teams, CAISO representatives, and other market participants to ensure alignment on objectives and timelines.

  • Compliance and Documentation: Documented and comply with CAISO's regulatory framework. Maintain comprehensive records of all processes, changes, and validations.

  • Metering Oversight: Support the configuration and validation of metering systems necessary for CAISO settlement activity, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with EDAM requirements. Oversee the submission and approval of Settlement Quality Meter Data (SQMD) plans.

  • Market Research: Researches market design and grid operations; analyzes trends and reports recommendations for new or changed products/strategies; follows changes to the Energy Imbalance Market (EIM) and Extended Day Ahead Market (EDAM) rules in order to integrate market changes to PGE operational systems.

  • Grid Operations: Provides operational related analyses, including interpreting operational decision impacts in the context of both financial performance and reliability, data management and information sharing; identifies and implements process improvement opportunities for grid operations in the context of market opportunities; identifies business solutions to operational changes that result from market design and enhancements.

  • Subject Matter Expert: Serves as a subject matter expert for operational enterprise-wide projects that bridge both trading floor and grid operational floor; sets and implements data strategy in collaboration with management and leads cross functional teams in developing strategies; provides training and guidance on evaluating projects and trading strategies to less experienced colleagues.

  • Analytic Tools: Designs, develops and implements analytic tools and procedures to evaluate and forecast energy and transmission economic opportunities, including financial instruments and regulatory strategies; builds and maintains complex business logics in database and maintains database; provides training and guidance on analytic tools to less experienced colleagues.

  • Communications and Presentations: Develops market and grid performance reports and presentations, including natural gas and electric power analytics/forecasts; presents reports and analyses to senior management, grid and power operations staff and other internal stakeholders to support operating strategies; develops technical seminars for operations staff, traders, external clients and others; as a recognized authority, conducts trading strategy meetings with grid and power operations hourly staff and management.

  • External Relations: As a recognized authority on energy markets and how they work within the confines of grid operational reliability requirements, participates in energy related forums or leads meetings with other utilities and Governmental and regulatory agencies to share/exchange information; leads or participates with cross functional teams in preparing, filing and presenting regulatory filings; represents PGE's interests in regulatory and rate case proceedings. Regulatory Compliance Researches and analyzes development, applicability and implementation of energy-related regulations, orders and statutes; implements changes in daily business processes that will ensure compliance with all regulations; provides training and guidance on regulatory compliance to less experienced colleagues.

Education/Experience/Certifications:

Education: Requires a bachelor's degree in IT, finance, business, economics, engineering or other science field.

Experience: Typically eight or more years in the energy industry or a related field. Experience in operational analytics preferred.

Compensation Range:

$89,175.00 - $178,375.00

Actual total compensation, including a performance based incentive bonus, is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity. While we anticipate the selected candidate for this position will fall towards the middle or entry point of the compensation range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.
