General Manager, Reuters Breakingviews

This position will be based in either Washington DC or New York City with hybrid working available.

Reuters are looking for a General Manager to lead and execute the commercial strategy for Breakingviews. Reuters Breakingviews, the international commentary brand of Reuters News, delivers agenda-setting financial insight in real time on the most important events impacting global markets, economies and corporate finance. Our writers always make a call in their commentary and provide genuine insight into key global changes and reacts to stories as they develop in real-time.

As General Manager, you'll work with a cross functional team to drive revenue growth, market share, and profitability through innovative content, new product development and positioning initiatives.

About the Role

As General Manager, Breakingviews, you will:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive commercial strategy for Reuters Breakingviews, monitoring industry trends amidst a competitive landscape.

  • Collaborate with editorial and commercial teams to bring new products to market, ensuring alignment with market needs and commercial objectives.

  • Identify and evaluate new market opportunities to expand Reuters Breakingviews offerings and subscriber base.

  • Establish and manage sales targets and budgets, identify new revenue streams whilst overseeing sales, marketing and business development efforts. You'll provide sales forecasts and will monitor performance and Breakingviews' profitability.

  • Collaborate closely with key clients and partners as well as editorial, product and other commercial units across Reuters. We're customer-obsessed at Reuters and you'll gauge the priorities of Breakingviews' subscribers, using this knowledge to create new innovative products and inform future product development.

  • Lead and mentor Breakingviews' commercial team, fostering a collaborative team environment

About You

You're a fit for the role of General Manager, Breakingviews if you have:

  • Demonstrable experience of developing, launching and managing successful B2B publishing products, with a commercial focus.

  • A strong understanding of B2B subscription dynamics, including key trends, challenges, and regulatory environments.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to lead and collaborate with high-performing teams across Breakingviews and Reuters Professional.

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities with the ability to manage budgets, ensure profitability and consider financial risks and opportunities

  • The ability to use data to drive decisions and assess risks and opportunities available to Breakingviews.

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations.
Eligible office location(s) for this role include one or more of the following: New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and/or Irvine, CA; McLean, VA; Washington, DC. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $114,520 - $212,680.
This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
