Job Overview

This position is key to providing world-class product support to Komatsu Distributors for parts requirements without inventory. This position communicates daily with Komatsu suppliers, affiliates, and internal Komatsu employees. The primary contact for estimated delivery dates, and explores all options to supply a part on a unit down, emergency, and stock backorder. The expediting specialist follows up daily and tracks all machine-down, emergency, and non-stock backorders from order placement to the Distributor/customer door.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Follow up and expedite with Japan, affiliates, and North American Suppliers for unit down, emergency, and non-stock backorders. Keep Komatsu Limited's parent company (KLTD) informed of all machine-down orders filed on the KLTD-supplied parts. This information is passed on to Distributor Parts Support teams so they can notify individual distributors
  • Keep current follow-up information on paybacks for assembly and machine cannibalizations in teardown folders, whether for dealer or stockyard. If delivery promises change, update all personnel involved (the dealer who performed the cannibalization) daily with the most current information. Up-to-date information is essential to Order and Distributions (O&D) to determine when a cannibalized machine may be ready for sale again.
  • Identify suppliers' potential delivery issues and communicate with suppliers and internal employees to resolve.
  • Responsible for achieving supplier performance metrics and making fact-based decisions on supplier overtime and additional air freight costs.
  • Perform assembly teardowns on unit down orders, which involve ordering an assembly and seeing that it ships the same day. Provide shipping instructions for cannibalized components to the teardown DB along with any applicable parts book pages, etc.
  • Accountable to identify supplier inaccuracies, lead times and other issues affecting overall availability goals.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Seasoned general business or industry experience. High school diploma required. A college degree is a plus
  • 3-4 years of logistics experience, specifically experience associated with emergency orders and expediting parts for critical issues. Distributor Support or Materials Management is a plus.
  • Extreme sense of urgency and outstanding organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure and deadlines
  • Personally accountable and welcomes responsibility.
  • Proficient PC skills. Functional level skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Access is a plus
  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate orally and in written form with suppliers and internal functions within Komatsu
  • General knowledge of manufacturing processes is a plus.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure and deadlines
  • Physical Requirements: This position requires sitting for extended periods, over 90% of the work period, to complete detailed work, typically using a PC. The position occasionally requires working extended periods to meet time-sensitive deadlines.

Hiring Range

At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $NA. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
