Job Description

This entry-level position involves assisting with the implementation and maintenance of EHS programs to ensure regulatory compliance and promote a safe workplace.

The EHS Specialist is responsible for ensuring that an organization complies with environmental, health, and safety regulations by developing and implementing policies and programs. They ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and assess potential risks and implement strategies to prevent accidents, injuries, and environmental incidents. It's an opportunity for recent graduates, or those with limited EHS experience, to gain practical knowledge and build a foundation in the field.

Your responsibilities as EHS Specialist

  • Execute consulting engagements at client facilities in the manufacturing, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, power, energy, construction, transportation, telecoms and services sectors.
  • Contribute to the growth of client-facing health, safety and industrial hygiene practice by delivering high-quality work, stewarding and proactively developing client relationships, and diligently identifying opportunities to offer additional value-added services to our clients.
  • Develop, evaluate, implement and improve environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures
  • Support the development of EHS management systems in accordance with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or similar standards.
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders to plan and schedule EHS Audits
  • Conduct workplace inspections and audits
  • Design and deliver EHS training programs and sessions
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement strategies to prevent accidents and injuries
  • Evaluate and manage hazardous waste management programs
  • Participate in emergency planning and response
  • Conduct incident investigations and root cause analyses
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant regulations and ensure compliance
  • Maintain and analyze safety records and data to identify trends and areas for improvement
  • Collect and report on environmental data, such as pollution emission measurements, atmospheric monitoring measurements, meteorological and mineralogical information, soil or water samples, or plant or wildlife samples
  • Advise organizations on the impact of their activities on the environment and safety, suggesting ways to minimize harm or violations
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, occupational health and safety, or related field
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a related field
  • Professional certification in EHS (e.g. CSP, CIH, CHMM) is desired
  • Demonstrated knowledge of EHS regulations and industry best practices
  • Familiarity with current environmental, health, and safety regulations, knowledge of OSHA, EPA regulations and Sustainability regulations is desired
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, with experience delivering presentations as well as writing comprehensive technical reports and standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong MS Office computer skills; advanced understanding of PowerPoint, Excel, and Word desired
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting deadlines, and traveling to client locations as needed
  • Accomplished in managing client/stakeholder expectations
  • Certifications such as OSHA 10, OSHA 30 Hour and Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) are desired

Experience in conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessment is desirable
