Our Stabilized Vision Technology Team is seeking a hands-on Electrical Engineer to work with an agile team in the design and development of advanced electronics for airborne systems. This role involves creating rugged, high-performance equipment for deployment across various manned and unmanned platforms.

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to work on the design, integration, customization, and testing of advanced electronic systems, with a focus on stabilized pointing platforms and feedback-controlled systems. This role includes architecting and documenting system-level solutions, designing complex cabling and interfaces, and tailoring hardware configurations to meet specific mission needs. A key responsibility of this role is planning and executing system tests to ensure performance meets system requirements, with a strong focus on hands-on testing of closed-loop feedback systems for precise stability and control. The ideal candidate will be comfortable collaborating across disciplines to troubleshoot issues, refine system performance, and deliver reliable, high-precision solutions in demanding environments.

This full-time, exempt, non-supervisory position is based in our Healdsburg CA office.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Design, analyze, and test copper and fiber harnesses, as well as electronic circuits, for high-performance stabilized pointing systems and advanced electro-optic platforms
  • Work collaboratively with a team of skilled engineers to develop and deliver systems from concept through production and customer support
  • Conduct detailed system-level reviews, design complex harnesses, and define subsystem interfaces to meet technical requirements and program goals
  • Partner with multidisciplinary teams of engineers and scientists to ensure design decisions and testing strategies align with system-level objectives and performance criteria

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • B.S. in Electrical or Electronic Engineering with 5+ years of experience, or M.S. with 3+ years; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
  • Hands-on experience designing, documenting, and building high-reliability assemblies, including harnesses and circuit cards
  • Demonstrated success in integrating and testing complex systems
  • Proven ability to produce production-ready documentation for complex assemblies such as circuit cards and harnesses
  • Strong expertise in deploying and validating systems in real-world field environments

Things We'd Love to See:

  • Proficient in using Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout
  • Proficient with AutoCAD for harness drawings and documentation
  • Experience designing and testing copper and fiber optic harnesses
  • Experience working with stabilized pointing systems and closed-loop feedback control
  • Familiarity with microcontrollers and embedded system development, including hardware-software integration
  • Active DoD security clearance

The salary range for this role is $115,000 to $130,000 ; however, Arete considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to the position and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
