Assistant Director, Fraternity and Sorority LIfe
The Assistant Director for Fraternity and Sorority LIfe facilitates student success through development, delivery and assessment to educational programs, and advocacy for the Greek experience at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus. Reporting to the Program Director in the Office for Fraternity & Sorority life, the Assistant Director leads key areas of the office's programmatic efforts and provides strategic guidance for student leaders, placing a high value on supported self-governance.

The Assistant director assists the office and provides leadership in the following areas:

Programmatic Development & Support (40%)
* Develop and implement comprehensive leadership development and training curriculum, including programming for chapter presidents and council officer leadership retreat and monthly all-chapter president meetings.
* Implementation of relevant programming in the Sorority Unity House- a living-learning community- in partnership with the Housing and Residential life.
* Collaborate with campus partners to develop and implement wellness programs and
initiatives including, bot not limited to, sexual assault prevention, bystander intervention and mental health awareness
* Facilitate training and advising of chapter and council leadership, inclusive of leadership development, skills acquisition and prevention and wellness initiatives - providing support for exciting programmatic efforts and identifying opportunities for additional initiatives.
* Assess programs to identify trends and dictate future programming.

Advising and Student support (40%).
* Mentor, train, advise student leaders of the 4 governing councils, and serve as the direct OFSL advisor to designated chapters and councils.
Formal and informal interactions include frequent in-person and digital communication with students to help them meet their goals, responding to questions
from parents, faculty or staff, and meeting with students who have interpersonal problems, policy violations, health/safety needs, or other concerns to counsel, mediate resolutions, or set expectations on for future behavior
* Advisement of and/or coordination of governing council recruitment and intake processes.
* Establish and maintain good working relationships and collaborations with chapter advisors, and (inter)national headquarters. Serve as a resource to community stakeholders such as
alumni, parents/families, and neighborhood council partners .
* Interpret and provide guidance on relevant University policy for chapter/council leaders, headquarters staff and alumni volunteers as needed.

Administration (20%)
* When necessary, represent the office on division and university-wide committees or at sponsored events.
* Manage rosters and membership information processes for the community
* Document Other duties as assigned or as needed by the Office and/or desired by the employee. The Assistant Director role is not exclusively responsible to one council or community and will be assigned chapters and councils to advise based on the selected candidate's experience and
wanted areas of development. The selected candidate will also have the opportunity to strategically engage with all community leaders around issues, trends and immediate needs.

Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree and four years of experience working with students and/or student organizations or related fields, OR a Master's degree and two years of relevant experience.
* Knowledge of general operations, organization, and structure of fraternity/sorority life.

Preferred Qualifications
* Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel or a related field.
* Membership in a fraternity or sorority or experience working or volunteering for a fraternity or sorority.
* Awareness of specific trends and issues affecting fraternity and sorority communities, including legal issues, programming, and national councils.
* Experience with assessment and data-driven decision-making.

About the department:
The Office for Fraternity and Sorority Life, a unit within Student Affairs, supports the University of Minnesota fraternity and sorority community made up of 50+ organizations across 4 governing councils and their 3000 undergraduate members. OFSL provides strategic advising, administrative support, and developmental programming to the community and its members.
OFSL serves as the connecting unit between fraternity and sorority organizations and the rest of the university community.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $55,000 - $58,000 ; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment Category: 75%-100% Appointment (If job description above does not specify appointment or expected weekly hours, assume a 100% appointment.)
