Key Job Responsibilities

  • Prioritize safety in every aspect of work, ensuring that all team members adhere to safe work practices consistently.
  • Execute intricate repairs with precision, maintaining a high standard of quality throughout all tasks.
  • Evaluate the repair requirements of equipment while developing and implementing effective repair processes.
  • Conduct troubleshooting, maintenance, and both minor and major repairs on assigned mining equipment.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment by actively participating in team discussions and problem-solving activities.
  • Work with a focus on efficiency and productivity to uphold billable rates that align with department and company objectives.
  • Minimize material loss or spoilage during the repair process by implementing effective strategies.
  • Lead service crews, ensuring that work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with SLQDC standards.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings to promote awareness and proactive discussions on safety procedures.
  • Collect, analyze, and review FLRA (Field Level Risk Assessment) cards to improve safety management processes.
  • Facilitate shift start and daily line-out meetings to communicate objectives and updates effectively.
  • Conduct periodic inspections of tools and personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Collaborate with department supervisors to outline short-term task priorities for the crew.
  • Assess crew headcount and competencies to delegate specific tasks efficiently throughout the day.
  • Gather timecards at the end of shifts and ensure accurate coding for payroll submissions.
  • Report potential concerns regarding materials, tooling, labor, quality, and environmental health and safety (EHS) needs to supervisors.
  • Engage with customer and vendor feedback to enhance service delivery.
  • Mentor and develop junior technicians, fostering improvements in their technical skills.
  • Maintain a high level of technical competency by participating actively in the repair process and keeping updated with industry standards.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in the maintenance of mining equipment such as shovels, drills, and loaders.
  • Demonstrated understanding of print specifications to ensure repairs are executed to OEM standards.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to fulfill business requirements, showcasing flexibility and commitment.
  • Reside in the Valley area, facilitating effective team collaboration and readiness.
  • Possess a clean driving record to ensure compliance with company policies regarding transportation.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, particularly in hydraulics, low-voltage electrical systems, and mechanical components.
  • Ability to interpret complex drawings, specifications, and technical documents to guide repair and maintenance efforts.
  • Skilled in the use of various precision measuring instruments to ensure repair accuracy.
  • Completion of an accredited apprenticeship in a recognized trade or an equivalent technical education is highly regarded.
  • Adaptable work schedule to meet the demands of the role and the dynamic nature of the industry.
