University of Iowa Stead Family Department of Pediatrics seeks an inpatient gastroenterologist.Appointment rank is open and may be to either the tenure track or clinical (non-tenure) track consistent with clinical experience and research interest.Appointment rank to Instructor of Pediatrics (non-tenure) may also be considered.The individual selected will join the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Pancreatology and Nutrition to provide patient care, teaching, and consultative services as a gastroenterologist. Specific duties include the following:
- Inpatient Gastroenterology Focus:Work closely with Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), medical students, residents and fellows to provide care for patients admitted to the GI service and consult service.
- Procedural Focus:This position allows you to focus on performing inpatient procedures such as endoscopies and other GI-related interventions.
- Call Schedule:Share call schedule with other providers to ensure adequate coverage while maintaining work/life balance.
- Provide comprehensive clinical care to pediatric patients with gastrointestinal, liver, nutritional and pancreatic disorders, including IBD, Celiac disease, and other conditions.
- Lead and participate in multidisciplinary care teams, working alongside specialists from various disciplines.
- Perform a range of procedures including endoscopies in dedicated pediatric endoscopy suite or children's hospital OR.
- Contribute to the education and mentoring of medical students, residents, and participate in teaching of fellows in the division's ACGME-accredited fellowship program since 1996.
- Participate in continuing medical education (CME) activities to maintain clinical expertise and knowledge.
- Collaborate with a diverse team of Pediatric Gastroenterologists, Advanced Practice Providers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in the treatment of complex pediatric GI cases.
- Optional participation in departmental research initiatives to advance the field of pediatric gastroenterology.
- Maintain a high level of patient satisfaction through compassionate care, communication, and dedication to improving patient outcomes.
The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Pancreatology, and Nutrition is committed to providing the highest available level of care to children with disorders of the digestive system, liver, and pancreas.
