Schedule: 7:00 pm - 7:00 am, Three 12-hour shifts, 6-week rotations

Your role with us

As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Salem Health, you play a vital role in delivering compassionate, hands-on care during some of the most vulnerable moments in a patient's life. You'll support daily living activities, monitor vital signs, and collaborate with nurses and providers to ensure safe, personalized care. Your empathy, attention to detail, and strong communication skills help create a healing environment and meaningful connections with patients and families.
Our cardiovascular care unit (CVCU) features 30 beds, 18 of which are dedicated to cardiac intensive care. Our unit offers interventional cardiology and electrophysiology services. It cares for surgical cardiac, thoracic and vascular patients. We also see patients with heart failure and acute coronary syndrome. Salem Hospital recently received its fifth designation as one of the nation's Top 50 cardiovascular hospitals for a third year in a row. The CVCU has also received the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) Silver Beacon Nursing Care Excellence Award three times in the past decade.

What you'll do


  • Completes personal care on each patient as directed by plan of care, including policies and procedures, without continual direct supervision.

  • Accurately performs skills per policy and procedure.
  • Completes only those skills duties for which competency has been demonstrated basic and advanced skills checklists.
  • Documents pertinent patient information concisely and legibly using acceptable medical terminology and abbreviation on all assigned patients.
  • Assumes additional clerical responsibilities as department needs dictate.
  • Monitors and record vital signs, reporting changes to the nursing team.
  • Supports nurses and healthcare staff in delivering personalized, high-quality care.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and healing environment for patients and families.
  • Provide emotional support and compassionate care during vulnerable moments.
  • Communicates clearly and respectfully with patients, families, and team members.
  • Helps ensure patient dignity, comfort, and safety at all times.

Required qualifications

  • Licensed in the State of Oregon to practice as a CNA.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS).

  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong teamwork and adaptability, contributing to a collaborative environment that supports optimal patient outcomes.
  • Possess well-developed computer skills and ability to learn additional programs with minimal training.
  • Proven ability to work tactfully and effectively with physicians, nurses and other hospital employees.
