The Role: The Mechanical Engineer IV will be part of a global, cross-disciplinary team implementing, validating and maintaining mechanical subsystems for Markem-Imaje current and future printers. You will have the opportunity to work with talented engineers in a global environment, building complex products, from proof of concept to production, across a variety of printing technologies targeted to meet our customers' needs and the strategic objectives of Markem-Imaje. Job Responsibilities: * Drive quality and efficiency within the Mechanical Engineering team by setting an outstanding example in terms of high-quality design and analysis with your individual work. * Lead and contribute to the design of new product concepts, translating functional requirements into manufacturable design solutions * Perform and guide CAD design, engineering computer simulations, and mechanical engineering related lab experiment in support of design validation and reliability goals. * Direct lab and field tests to verify operation/reliability of designs, systems, and components. * Capture and document customer requirements for subsystems or complete products through direct engagement with customers and/or product managers. Analyze customer requirements to develop mechanical/system functional specifications for the project. * Provide strong technical expertise during design reviews and problem-solving activities. * Deploy state-of-the-art mechanical engineering development practices (such as rapid prototyping, tolerance stack analysis, FEA simulation, etc.) * Present designs and findings in technical gate meetings, design reviews and problem-solving activities, bringing strong technical expertise. * Assist project manager with high-level estimates and work breakdown for current project. Generate reports of detailed analysis that may be used for major design/business decisions. * Collaborate with cross-functional, multi-site teams and engage with third-party engineering partners and suppliers, showcasing exceptional communication and interpersonal skills * Follow and drive improvement of mechanical engineering best practices and tools to improve team efficiency, effectiveness, and mechanical subsystem quality. * Use outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to lead and create efficient interfaces with third party engineering partners. * Ensure smooth and efficient transfer of new design and updates to the supply chain team * Coach and mentor less-experience engineer(s) in all areas of current project and the Mechanical Engineering discipline. Serve as a resource for mechanical engineers across the company in mechanical designs.
Job Requirements: * Bachelor or master's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent * 10 years of experience in Mechanical engineering R&D roles within an industrial product development environment is required. * Proven ability to lead mechanical design of industrial products from concept through production by applying a comprehensive knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, practices and procedures. * Experience in CAD design (Creo/Windchill preferred), FEA and thermal/pneumatics/electro-mechanical testing is required. * Prior experience with Design Change Management processes and best practices is required. * Familiarity with the modified Agile Design and Development process, particularly using JIRA, is required. * Proficiency in Multiphysics simulation tools (ANSYS, COMSOL) is desired. * Working knowledge of marking and coding equipment, inclusive of printer models using drop on demand inkjet technology to support development and testing is required. * Proven experience working in cross-functional and cross-border environments. * Excellent written and oral communication skills. * Ability to define a path to solve complex problems, share that vision, and support the team for execution. * Innovative, autonomous and able to motivate others. * Energizes, persuades and influences others through personal credibility.
