The Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy is seeking a dynamic and strategic Admissions Officer to support the strategic recruitment and enrollment efforts of the UVA Batten Office of Admissions. This role will be responsible for expanding outreach through off-campus engagement, cultivating prospective student leads, managing direct applicant communications, and executing strategic communications throughout the admissions cycle. The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator, highly organized, and passionate about connecting diverse and talented students with our programs. Key Responsibilities: Pipeline & Partnership Development and Engagement
- Represent UVA Batten at graduate school fairs, community colleges, partner institutions, and other external events.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders at feeder schools and community-based organizations to develop student pipelines.
- Identify new partnership opportunities to expand the applicant pool.
- Collaborate with admissions team to schedule and coordinate travel and recruitment calendar.
Prospect Engagement
- Serve as a knowledgeable point of contact for prospective student inquiries via email, phone, and in person, working closely with faculty and staff to stay up to date on program developments and admissions requirements.
- Provide in-depth program information, application guidance, and support to prospective students throughout the admissions funnel.
- Plan and host recruitment events (in-person and virtual) and programming matched to prospective audience needs.
Lead Cultivation & Analysis
- Manage lead generation and engagement strategy from inquiry to application.
- Develop and execute email campaigns, virtual info sessions, and other outreach tactics to convert leads to applicants.
- Import and manage prospective student data, maintain accurate records in Slate to support communication flow and data integrity efforts.
- Track and analyze prospect behavior and engagement metrics to inform outreach strategies and assess lead source performance and ROI of recruitment activities.
- Partner with admissions operations staff to support Slate optimization, campaign automation, and continuous system improvements.
Strategic Communications
- Create tailored messaging for segmented audiences based on interest area, demographics, source (e.g. events, referrals, website), engagement level, etc.
- Coordinate and deploy targeted communications including application reminders, deadline alerts, and post-admission next steps.
- With insights gained in the field, support the development of print and digital content tailored to specific audiences in collaboration with the communications team
Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree. Experience: At least three years of experience in admissions, recruitment, student services, or related field or a total of eight years of experience in lieu of degree. Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across multiple geographical locations.
- Creative thinking about inclusive and accessible ways to reach prospective students.
- Experience with CRM platforms (e.g., Slate, Salesforce) and digital marketing tools is highly desirable.
- Ability to travel and work evenings/weekends.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs. This position is based in Charlottesville, VA and a hybrid in-person/remote schedule is possible. This is a full-time, Exempt-level, benefited position. The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment.
