Department OverviewMotorola's Access Control Division's (previously OpenPath, now Avigilon Alta) mission is to improve your workday with smart office technology at your front door. Overview:

The Senior Software Engineer, DevOps is responsible for ensuring the stability, scalability, and reliability of our on-prem and cloud platform. You will collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to design, build, and maintain systems that are resilient, automated, and performant. Your role will involve troubleshooting infrastructure issues, implementing and automating best practices, and continuously improving our systems to meet both current and future business needs.

Responsibilities:

System Reliability & Performance

  • Monitor, maintain, and improve the performance, availability, and scalability of platform components, including on-prem devices and support services.
  • Specifically working with the video streaming services, you will play a key role in the development and operational aspects, including deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting of these services on Linux environments. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the core of our product offerings and make a tangible impact on our next-generation video and access control solutions.

Software Development

  • Work with the team to design and implement robust, scalable, and high-performance backend services using Python and/or Go, specifically focused on video streaming from our on-premise controller units.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of video streaming services.
  • Participate in code reviews, contributing to a culture of high-quality, maintainable code.
  • Deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot services in Linux environments, ensuring optimal uptime and performance.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to video streaming services and system integrations.
  • Contribute to architectural discussions and decisions for new features, service enhancements and hardware.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Strong proficiency in either Python or Go (or both) with a proven track record of building robust applications.
  • Experience with service development, including API design, data processing, and concurrency.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role involving work in infrastructure reliability, or supporting end customers using IoT devices and cloud infrastructure .
  • Understanding or willing to learn infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation (CDK).
  • Solid understanding of networking principles (DNS, load balancing, firewalls, VPNs).
  • 3-5 years of experience troubleshooting Linux (especially on small board computers such as raspberry pi)
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure problems, perform root cause analysis, and implement solutions.
  • Experience troubleshooting systems which are remote and installed at a customer site where the device performs critical customer functions.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • Ability to clearly document systems, procedures, and incidents.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Experience with AI/machine learning technologies is strongly preferred

Target Base Salary Range: $89,300 - $178,600

Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
