At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

At Blue Origin, you'll apply your technical expertise and leadership to shape the future of space exploration. As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you'll play a vital role in the New Glenn Rocket program, contributing to innovative solutions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You will collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure that components and systems meet requirements and perform as expected. Additionally, you will be involved in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues during production, integration, and post-flight phases.

If you're passionate about our mission and vision, thrive in the fast-paced energy of a dynamic startup environment, excel in collaborating with integrated, multi-functional teams, and bring a wealth of experience and skills across relevant technologies (even if your background isn't in aerospace), while eagerly seeking opportunities to learn and grow, enjoy occasional travel, and aren't constrained by titles or job descriptions in making meaningful contributions, we'd love to have you join us!

We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and dedication to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!

Responsibilities:

  • Support requirements planning, development, allocation, functional decomposition, verification, validation, and traceability efforts using tools like DOORS Next Generation, system lifecycle configuration management tools, and other functional analysis toolsets

  • Support development and review of verification and other systems engineering artifacts
  • Act as the negotiator between multiple and sometimes conflicting interests to make sure the system as a whole is optimized while ensuring internal and external stakeholder needs are represented
  • Support test plan development for flight and non-flight verification activities

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace engineering, Physics, or an equivalent technical field
  • 5+ years of experience in liquid rocket engines, propulsion, or fluids
  • System development and technical integration experience, preferably with aerospace hardware
  • Knowledge of current systems engineering and integration tools and methodologies
  • Experience managing complex, technical projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. degree in a relevant technical field
  • Demonstrated experience with liquid rocket engines and space propulsion
  • Highly knowledgeable of systems engineering practices and their rightsizing for rapid development and early-stage programs
  • Experience with systems engineering principles and processes as they relate to the development of a spacecraft
