Job Summary:
The Technical Accounting Manager is responsible for researching, interpreting, and applying complex accounting standards to ensure compliance with Accounting Policies and corporate policies. This role supports the organization by providing technical guidance on new transactions, accounting pronouncements, and policy updates. The manager will assist with external reporting and collaborate cross-functionally to assess accounting impacts of business initiatives and ensure accurate financial reporting.

Principal Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical accounting issues quickly & accurately, and document accounting positions in memorandums. Communicate technical findings/ solutions to management and participate in discussions with external auditors.
- Assist in the development and documentation of effective internal control design and management testing.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with teams across the America region to provide accounting guidance and communicate complex accounting requests to non-accounting stakeholders.
- Proactively analyze new and proposed accounting standards, determine the impact on the America Region, and assist in the implementation of new accounting standards as required.
- Ensure compliance and standardization with Messer Group accounting policy manual in the America Region and support the Group in making updates when appropriate.
- Review significant customer and vendor agreements to ensure proper accounting treatment.
- Support Group Finance in the preparation of financial statements and disclosures.
- Perform close activities and review balance sheet reconciliations over high-risk accounts.
- Assist in operationalizing any changes associated with new transactions; acquisitions and divestitures; and new and proposed accounting standards.
- Assist with communication and coordination related to accounting policy changes with the external Financial Auditors
- Ensure proper financial reporting accuracy required by any new reporting requirements or changes (for example ESG)
- Ensure accuracy of external financial reporting within the system of record (COGNOS) and data mapping effectively managed Merger and acquisition support
- Support the recurring US SGA FPA activities.
Required Skills:
- Proven experience in an accounting advisory consulting practice, or industry experience in a technical accounting role.
- Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex accounting issues effectively and efficiently.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and explain complex accounting topics to non-accounting stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills and experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Prior experience working with complex financial system, with SAP and Cognos experience preferred.
- Data driven, analytical approach to problem solving that leads to systemic improvements and lasting results.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a challenging, fast paced environment.
- Ability to impact and influence complex decision making and change management supporting any Accounting Policy implementation or change.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- 4-6 years of industry or manufacturing experience in technical accounting roles
- CPA required
- IFRS experience required
