Location: Angleton, TX

Salary: $78,000 - $105,000
Schedule: 9/80 schedule available

Focus: The R&D Lab Technician is responsible for conducting laboratory work in support of Epoxy processes, including setup and operation of laboratory equipment, analytical, and documentation of results.

Olin Epoxy is a leading supplier of epoxy components and formulated systems in global markets. Epoxy Process R&D focuses on optimization and debottlenecking of existing manufacturing operations, and process development for new products. The incumbent will work as part of a diverse and multi-disciplinary R&D group to provide technical solutions across various process and product applications.

R&D Lab Technician Essential Job Functions:

  • Support R&D projects associated with the development and improvement of chemical processes.
  • Conduct analytical evaluations, including GC, GC/MS, GPC, LC, titrations, etc.
  • Develop analytical methods, operate and troubleshoot equipment, and interpret results.
  • Perform analytical and process equipment maintenance. Generate, record and maintain documentation.
  • Set-up and operate lab scale experimental equipment.
  • Gather, analyze, record and interpret data. Communicate findings and provide recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Draft and revise work instructions and drive the completion of management of change (MOC) in process safety management system.
R&D Lab Technician Minimum Requirements:
  • Associate's Degree* in Analytical Chemistry or science-related discipline.
  • 5 years of relevant work experience in an industrial chemical or similar laboratory setting preferred.
  • Proficiency in laboratory and analytical equipment set-up/operation. Experience with GPC, HPLC, GC, GC/MS and analytical method development is preferred.
  • Proficiency in chemical handling.
  • Know-how and sense of ownership to deliver high quality experimental data.
  • Strong time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; good written and oral communication skills.
  • Prior Olin experience in a relevant position preferred.
