JOB TITLE: Solitude Teams Manager

DIVISION: Recreational Services

REPORTS TO: Snowsports Director

LOCATION: Solitude Mountain Resort

CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time/ Year Round/ Salary

PAY RATE: $65 - $70k (annual) DOE

POSITION:

The Solitude Teams Manager is responsible for the planning, oversight, and execution of all elements of the Solitude Teams seasonal program and Summer Camp operations. This includes Alpine Racing, Freeride, All Mountain Team, and Summer Camp, as well as the Nastar race venue and competition course crew. The Teams Manager works closely with the Snowsports Director in budget and business planning. Additionally, this role works with counterparts in the Snowsports department and around the resort to achieve outcomes. This is accomplished through a focus on quality control, guest and employee relations, staff performance and development, financial responsibility, strong communication, teamwork, and administrative duties.

SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in relevant field such as business, resort area management, or hospitality (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years working for a ski or snowboard competition program
  • Minimum 2 years working in a supervisory role with multiple direct reports.
  • Current USSA or IFSA level 200 coaching credentials preferred
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
  • Strong understanding of skiing and snowboarding techniques, modern coaching methods, and safety procedures.
  • Expert level Skier or Snowboarder
  • Knowledge of outdoor adventure activities and their associated safety requirements.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in organizing and executing large-scale events and programs.
  • Competency in Microsoft suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, & Teams.
  • Experience with RTP, Flaik, Drivn or similar resort software systems preferred.
  • Strong mentorship and conflict resolution skills for interpersonal athlete dynamics.


JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Draft annual expenses & labor budgets in line with company guidance and department goals.
  • In coordination with Snowsports Director and revenue management team, determine products & pricing to drive increased year over year participation.
  • Manage labor and expenses to budget and assure compliance with resort policies and applicable employment laws.
  • Work closely with HR & Mountain Operations counterparts to efficiently manage employees' on/offboarding, pay & benefits, work comp claims, and reporting throughout the season.
  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise a team of qualified ski & snowboard coaches, ensuring their adherence to safety protocols and teaching standards.
  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise a team of qualified summer camp counselors ensuring their adherence to safety protocols and guest experience standards.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to maintain ski equipment and facilities in excellent condition.
  • Monitor and ensure the safety of all participants on the slopes and enforce proper safety practices.
  • Monitor and review employee performance with other supervisors and individual staff members regularly.
  • Coordinate and execute on-mountain events, including alpine and snowboard racing, freestyle events, and marketing events.
  • Work with the Director and Managers to support and achieve Employee & Guest Experience targets for the success of the overall Snowsports Department
  • Coordinate training activities and hill space allocations with Mountain Operations and ski clubs.
  • Resolve guest complaints by utilizing guest service guidelines and accommodate special requests when appropriate.
  • Ensure Instructors/coaches are knowledgeable about our product lines, company policies and procedures, and work schedules.
  • Establish and review mutual seasonal goals and performance objectives with Head coaches and frontline staff, providing feedback and support when necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with leadership, peers, and other departments to create an environment of support and trust that will benefit staff and guests.
  • Support Ski and Ride School Operations as needed.
  • Teach/Coach guests as necessary.
