Job Overview
The Weather Forecaster provides forecast operation services that consist of managing and developing weather observations/forecasts for existing and threatening weather conditions, performing meteorological analysis and interpretations, evaluating and preparing locally based and worldwide forecasts of atmospheric/space weather conditions for aviation and ground operations, and tailoring communications of weather conditions to customers in the form of weather warnings, weather watches, and/or advisories. This role researches materials, prepares necessary documents, and responds to planned and emergency service calls during regular hours and occasional after duty on-call hours. This role is a full-time onsite role at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama. Work Model: Onsite
Responsibilities
Essential Functions and Duties:
- Takes/Augments and disseminates surface weather observations.
- Uses knowledge of technical methods, procedures, weather observations and meteorological analysis methods to effectively communicate to customer and management.
- Evaluates weather elements and objective determination of meteorological elements using precision measuring equipment.
- Evaluates and tailors centrally-based forecasts to local mission requirements and providing input to regional weather centers for the development of weather advisories and forecasts.
- Adheres to the established safety and personnel policies and standard operating procedures.
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with contractual, functional and mission requirements.

Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- Bachelor of Science in Meteorology or Military certified forecasting, education and experience.
- Two (2) years relevant work experience.
- Intermediate skill in the use of Microsoft Office, and database programs.
- Ability to acquire and maintain government identification/common access card.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance.
- Ability to use standard office equipment /tools required for the position (computer, phone, copy machine, hand-held radio, etc.)
- While performing duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand and/or walk for long periods at a time, sit, use of hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, climb ladders, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear, or smell.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision.
- Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
- Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position.
- Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English.
