Summary:

The Communications (Marketing and Media Relations) SME IV will support the Department of Defense - Defense Health Agency (DHA). This role will play a critical part in developing and guiding the strategic vision and execution of the Ready, Reliable, and Resilient Campaign (RWC). The SME will provide senior-level guidance for crafting and disseminating impactful messaging across print, digital, and multimedia platforms that promote awareness of key health and readiness themes throughout the Department of Defense community.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Shall develop and execute campaign outreach activities, secure media engagements that deliver campaign content to target audiences, and cultivate and manage partner relationships to maximize coordination and stakeholder engagement.
  • Represent the campaign at public events and conferences and conduct other outreach activities to ensure that RWC messaging reaches the widest possible audience and to raise awareness of the campaign itself.
  • Identify, facilitate, exhibit, and present at conferences or events aligned with campaign aims, as identified by the RWC AO.
  • Create and tailor presentation materials suitable to event audiences that communicate RWC key themes and provide information about the campaign and its activities; and
  • Propose, develop, and implement outreach, awareness, and education activities.
  • Produce and deliver quarterly a Campaign Outreach Review Report that includes (for each content item) the date of the public event or conference, name of the public event or conference, approximate number of participants, types of materials disseminated, approximate number of materials disseminate and the identified key theme(s).
  • assist in the development of a robust communication and media strategy for anti-stigma and suicide prevention programming.
  • Develop a robust strategic communication plan that includes actionable communication, media engagement, and marketing plan to inform campaign efforts over the next five years.
  • Analyze historical records of anti-stigma and suicide prevention communications, outreach activities, and media engagements to inform campaign efforts.
  • Conduct market research to create a list of media markets and channels that public education and outreach efforts should target to best amplify campaign messaging and to attract new participants.
  • Produce and deliver an annual Strategic Communications Plan Review Report that includes the actionable communication, media engagement, and marketing plans informed by the analyzed historical records and market research findings.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and message development skills for both technical and lay audiences.
  • Proven ability to interact with senior stakeholders and represent client interests with professionalism and subject matter credibility.
  • Proficient in content strategy, editorial calendars, and campaign planning tools.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum ten (10) years professional experience with three (3) years of social media and marketing experience.
  • Experience providing social media and marketing services for psychological health campaigns is preferred.
  • Ability to pass an employment background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience with military health or public health campaigns.
  • Familiarity with Defense Health Agency operations and mission.

Pay and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $114,000 to $140,000 annually.
