Position Description
Learning the basic functionality of the various systems and technologies of the Bulk Communications System. It shall include but not be limited to TDM, SONET, networking, microwave radios, fiber optic transports, DACS, multiplexers, channel banks, and routers. This position shall gain a general working knowledge of the operation of the trunking radio system.
Essential Job Tasks:
Develops a basic knowledge of the various components of the Communications System. This will include microwave systems, fiber optic terminals, DACS, multiplexers, and channel banks.Assists the technicians in performing our standard procedures for operation and maintenance of the various types of equipment.Develops a basic knowledge of the fiber optic system, to include underground fiber that must be marked per SC811.Becomes familiar with the operation and maintenance of tower lighting and the FAA rules and regulations that govern tower lighting.Develops knowledge to assist the other Engineers in the unit and the Superintendent in performing calculations needed to ensure the reliability of the Bulk communications System is maintained.Develops knowledge to assist and perform standard procedures for operating and maintaining emergency generators and battery banks that are located on the Bulk Communications System.Develops the knowledge to assist the other Engineers in the unit and the Manager in the preparation of records and materials needed for proof of documentation for compliance with NERC standards associated with Communications.Develops the knowledge to be able to assist in evaluation of test equipment as they are proposed for use on the Bulk Communications System.Develops the knowledge to assist in the daily review of the communications alarm system to ensure proper operation of the Bulk Communications Systems.

Engineer I
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited university or college.
Compensation Information:
$74,010 - $92,500 (min. - mid.)
Engineer II
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited university or college + 2 years experience.
Compensation Information:
$82,520 - $103,140 (min. - mid.)
Engineer III
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited university or college + 5 years experience.Must have FE.
Compensation Information:
$91,990 - $114,990 (min. - mid.)
Senior Engineer
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited university or college + 5 years experience.Must have PE.
Compensation Information:
$102,560 - $128,200 (min. - mid.)
