Avion Solutions Inc., an employee-owned company, is seeking candidates for an?Aerospace Structural Engineer to support the Propulsion Systems Readiness Directorate division.? This position is based in Huntsville, AL. Job Responsibilities/Duties:
- Provide engineering support for engine systems and subsystems relating to helicopters, unmanned air vehicles, and fixed wing platforms.
- Provide written recommendations regarding field inquiries concerning serviceability of engines systems and subsystems and interpretation of airworthiness requirements.
- Review test plans, test reports, and analyses concerning compliance with specification and/or qualification requirements.
- Provide support for Test witnessing, evaluation of test results, and/or post-test inspections and recommendations regarding requirements coverage of tests and post-test hardware condition and performance.
- Review change in designs and engineering change proposals and document airworthiness concerns.
- Support failure investigations and procedure validations/verifications.
- Provide technical and project engineering support for engine related improvements developed under the Component Improvement Program.
- Provide support for Deficiency Reporting requirements including disposition of exhibits and review of investigation findings and recommendations.
- Provide support for Depot and repair activities to include Maintenance and Overhaul (M&O) plan and hardware repair reviews, and support of Product Verification Audits (PVAs).
- Provide technical support for spares procurements to include review of Source Approval Request (SAR) packages and commerciality decisions.
- Provide technical support for critical safety item issues with propulsion engine systems and subsystems to include hydromechanical and electronic engine controls.
- Provide support for Product Lot Testing (PLTs) by reviewing drawings and identifying required inspection criteria.
- Review quality escapes and Manufacturing Review Boards (MRBs) and document airworthiness concerns.
- Provide technical input on Foreign Military Sales support.
- Document processes and methodologies for the design and airworthiness qualification of propulsion systems and subsystems, generate briefings and related documentation in electronic format (MS Word and PowerPoint), and provide briefings, recommendations and analyses for Government use to ensure standardization and effectiveness of the Airworthiness process as conducted by the Propulsion Division.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering with 10+ years of experience in structural engineering and analysis.
- Extensive experience in engineering design preferably design and analysis of transmissions, housings, shafting, couplings, and bearings.
- Experience in classical and finite element stress analysis.
- Proficient with Finite Element Analysis programs (ANSYS, NASTRAN, etc.).
- Experience with analysis programs such as MS Excel, Python, MATLAB, etc.
- Experience with fatigue analysis, cumulative damage theory, failure analysis of mechanical components and systems.
- Experience with the design and analysis of bolted joints and bearing design.
- Experience with coupon and full-scale fatigue testing, fatigue curve development.
- Experience with material properties, the mechanics of materials.
- Experience with Tribology.
- Experience with analyzing data from flight load surveys.
- Must be a US Citizen and have an active Secret Security Clearance.
- Must be able to travel 15% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Working knowledge of multiple DoD software programs to include but not limited to Product Data Reporting and Evaluation Program (PDREP), The Army Maintenance Management System-Aviation/Maintenance Consolidated Database System (TAMMS-A/MCDS, and Aircraft/Engine Electronic Technical Manuals (ETMs)/Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs).
- Ability to perform detailed information search, correlation, interpretation of technical data and the preparation of technical documentation.
- Experience writing and reviewing AWIS, SSRAs, System Safety Management Plans, FMECA/FEMA, and Safety Design Requireme.
