How You'll Contribute:

The Senior Broadcast Engineer plays a critical role in the seamless execution of live events, overseeing the end-to-end technical infrastructure that supports broadcast, audiovisual, IPTV, digital signage, and LED display systems. This position combines hands-on hardware and software support, system commissioning, troubleshooting, and real-time event production support across a dynamic, fast-paced arena environment.

This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of complex AV and broadcast ecosystems-ranging from signal flow and IP-based media networks to large-format LED displays and cloud/on-prem content delivery systems. Working closely with production teams, the engineer provides both pre-event technical preparation and live-event operational support, swiftly resolving issues and adapting to real-time demands.

What You'll Do:

ONSITE RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Note that this role will support a dynamic environment
  • Live Production & Event Support


    • Provide comprehensive technical support during live events, including sports, live tv production, and corporate events.
    • Ensure flawless performance of all AV, broadcast, and IPTV systems before and during events.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve real-time issues with video, audio, control, networking, and LED systems under high-pressure conditions.
    • Support Ross XPression graphics systems during live events as part of the broadcast production workflow.
    • Coordinate with event producers, directors, and technical teams to ensure show flow and system readiness.


  • Incident Management & Break/Fix


    • Lead the incident response process for AV, broadcast, IPTV, and signage systems, restoring system functionality with minimal downtime.
    • Perform hardware and software break/fix activities, including fault isolation, device replacement, software resets, and configuration restoration.
    • Maintain accurate logs of all issues, repairs, part replacements, and resolution strategies.


  • Hardware & Software Maintenance


  • Maintain, service, configure, and replace a wide range of broadcast and AV hardware, including video routers, switchers, amplifiers, media servers, LED wall processors, PTZ cameras, control interfaces, IPTV equipment, and digital signage platforms.
  • Work with systems such as Evertz routers, Ross Video infrastructure, Ross XPression, Q-SYS control systems, and media players.
  • Perform hands-on diagnostics and component-level troubleshooting to quickly identify and resolve hardware issues or performance degradation.
  • Manage firmware, software integrations, and configuration settings across all supported systems to ensure optimal performance and compatibility.
  • Monitor system logs and analytics to detect early signs of equipment failure or operational issues.
  • Inspect and test cabling, patch panels, and terminations to verify signal integrity across video, audio, and data pathways.
  • Calibrate display hardware, camera settings, and audio devices to meet venue-specific conditions and live event requirements.
  • Ensure all devices are securely installed, properly ventilated, and connected to stable power and network sources.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and lifecycle records, including firmware versions, service history, and hardware status.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and hardware upgrades with minimal disruption to operations.
  • Support essential software configurations tied to hardware performance.


  • System Commissioning & Integration


    • Lead commissioning efforts for new AV and broadcast systems, verifying performance against design specs.
    • Perform final testing, configuration, and calibration of systems before they are handed off for use.
    • Integrate new equipment into existing workflows.


  • IPTV & LED Display Oversight


    • Maintain and troubleshoot IPTV systems including stream distribution, multicast setups, headend gear, and endpoints.
    • Configure, calibrate, and maintain LED walls and arena-scale displays to ensure optimal image quality and content delivery.


  • Production Network Support


    • Provide basic network engineering for production systems including IP assignments, switch configuration, and VLAN segmentation.
    • Assist with diagnosing and resolving connectivity issues related to AV-over-IP.


  • Preventative Maintenance & Quality Assurance


  • Perform regular preventive maintenance to ensure all AV, broadcast, IPTV, and signage systems are fully operational.
  • Confirm operational readiness of all critical systems prior to live events.
  • Inspect LED walls and signage players for pixel consistency, sync issues, and brightness calibration.
  • Validate video and audio routing through Evertz routers and Q-SYS control systems.
  • Test media players, digital signage loops, and IPTV endpoints for reliable functionality.
  • Verify that CMS content is correctly scheduled and displays as intended across all platforms.
  • Ensure firmware and software versions are current and consistent across all systems.
  • Confirm backup power supplies and redundant network paths are active and monitored.
  • Execute full system testing to validate performance, power, network stability, and signal flow.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all preventive maintenance tasks, configuration changes, firmware updates, and event readiness checks for audit and operational reference.



What You'll Bring:

Education & Certifications:



  • Associates/bachelor's degree required and/or equivalent experience.



Required Skills/Qualifications:



  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in broadcast engineering, AV systems integration, or live event technical support in high-demand environments such as arenas, stadiums, or studios.
  • Extensive knowledge of broadcast infrastructure and workflows, including signal flow, video/audio routing, and system redundancy practices.
  • Proficiency with Ross Video platforms, including Ross XPression for live graphics playout and workflow integration.
  • Experience operating and supporting AV and broadcast systems such as Evertz routers, Analog Way switchers, PTZ cameras, and Q-SYS control systems.
  • Strong experience with LED walls and large-format display systems, including processor configuration and calibration for arena-scale environments.
  • Hands-on hardware troubleshooting skills including cabling, component replacement, signal verification, and physical installation.
  • Experience with IPTV systems, including headend maintenance, stream distribution, and endpoint troubleshooting (multicast environments preferred).
  • Familiarity with CMS platforms and digital signage workflows (e.g., BrightSign, Scala, or similar).
  • Ability to read and interpret system diagrams, rack elevations, and technical documentation.
  • Working knowledge of production IT/networking, including basic switch configuration, VLANs, IP assignments, and AV-over-IP systems.
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders; must be a great communicator who can provide clear updates, documentation, and support across departments.
  • Amenable, team-oriented attitude with a proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration.
  • Adaptability to business changes, shifting priorities, evolving technologies, and dynamic production needs.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks related to hardware installation and maintenance in various on-site conditions.
  • Proven ability to perform under pressure during live events, rapidly identifying and resolving technical issues in real time.
  • Experience communicating with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, IT, and vendors, to coordinate troubleshooting and ensure seamless event execution.
