We are seeking an experienced and proactive Environmental Supervisor to lead environmental compliance, hazardous waste management, and sustainability efforts across our site. This role plays a critical part in ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal environmental regulations while fostering a culture of environmental responsibility. The Environmental Supervisor will supervise Waste Water Treatment Plant employees, manage hazardous materials, while also driving strategic sustainability initiatives. The position serves as both a compliance leader and a change agent for continuous environmental improvement.

What We're Looking For
(Qualifications - Education/Training, Experience, and Certifications)

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in science related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory experience in environmental compliance in an industrial, manufacturing, or municipal setting. Experience in managing union employees is a plus.
  • Certifications:
    • Knowledge of EPA, RCRA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and other applicable environmental regulations.
    • Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certification preferred.
    • N4 certification for wastewater treatment is preferred.

  • In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting processes, and waste management standards.
  • Strong understanding of wastewater treatment processes and hazardous waste handling.
  • Proficiency in maintaining regulatory documentation and preparing environmental reports.
  • Ability to lead training sessions and promote regulatory compliance across teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and engage stakeholders in sustainability efforts.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on safety and compliance.

How You Will Thrive and Create an Impact
(Major Job Duties and Responsibilities)

  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to air emissions, water discharge, and hazardous waste.
  • Oversee wastewater treatment operations and ensure all discharges meet environmental standards.
  • Manage hazardous waste programs, including proper storage, labeling, handling, and disposal.
  • Conduct regular inspections of waste storage and disposal sites.
  • Maintain accurate records of waste handling, emissions, discharges, and compliance activities.
  • Develop and deliver training for staff on hazardous waste.
  • Respond to environmental emergencies and hazardous material incidents.
  • Implement sustainability initiatives focused on waste reduction and resource efficiency.
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments and sustainability audits.
  • Engage internal stakeholders to drive awareness and participation in environmental programs.
  • Research and recommend new sustainability technologies or practices to support continuous improvement.

Environmental Working Conditions & Physical Effort

Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.

  • Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.
  • A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.
  • Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.

Pay Transparency:

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is

$77,300.00 - $128,700.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
