ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and special projects may be assigned.
- Evaluates commercial and residential appraisal and valuation standards, guidelines, techniques, and methods for conformance with Bank policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Requires significant interaction with Lenders, Loan Closers, Credit Officers and third-party appraisal venders. Pro-actively supports Real Estate Appraisal Manager in administering exceptional appraisal services for the Bank.
- Provides customer service to existing and potential internal business customers in a professional and timely manner.
- Uses web-based RIMS system to process and monitor internal requests for commercial and/or residential real estate appraisal services. Provides supervisory and supplemental engagement support to the Real Estate Appraisal Coordinator and Real Estate Appraisal Analyst as applicable.
- Confirms property level details with data sources and public records to eliminate errors/discrepancies. Selects appropriate third-party vendors and distributes Requests for Proposal (RFP) for appraisal services.
- Selects best qualified vendor, based on lowest fee and/or quickest delivery, and reports engagement terms to internal business partners. Upon business partner's authorization to proceed, promptly engages real estate appraisal services.
- Continually monitors engagement, clarifies valuation scope concerns and reviews requests for potential delays. Efficiently updates appraisal engagement status in RIMS to keep business partners informed.
- Upon receipt of the appraisal reports, performs comprehensive and/or administrative appraisal reviews for USPAP, FIRREA, Interagency and BankUnited compliance.
- Confirms electronic documents are available in RIMS for use by business partners and loan closers. Acts as Company and Department resource for market data distribution and assistance with RIMS.
- Performs Comprehensive review assignments with established directives involving knowledge and application of policies and procedures. Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.
- Successfully completes all required online training and follows department procedures resulting in effective compliance for all job-relevant State and Federal regulations, including, but not limited to Employee Policies, Procedures, CRA, EEO/AA, as well as all job relevant Risk Management, Appraisal Department and Corporate Standards.
- Serves as primary source of training assistance and support to Real Estate Appraisal Coordinator and Real Estate Appraisal Analyst regarding real estate principles and terminology, as well as appraisal concepts and theory. Must have an excellent knowledge of real estate and appraisal practice.
- Requires knowledge base and communication skills to follow-up with vendors and appropriately resolve errors, discrepancies and valuation issues.
- Assist the Real Estate Appraisal Coordinator and Real Estate Appraisal Analyst as applicable in the on-going qualification and documentation of third party appraiser competencies, areas of coverage and performance limitations in RIMS.
- Serves as primary source of training assistance and support to Real Estate Appraisal Analyst and Coordinator regarding real estate principles and terminology, as well as appraisal concepts and theory.
- Adheres to and complies with applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to anti-money laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.).
- Adheres to Bank policies and procedures and completes required training.
- Identifies and reports suspicious activity.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required
EXPERIENCE
- 4-6 Years of Commercial Real Estate Appraisal experience required
- Bank review experience preferred
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Qualifications of a Real Estate Appraiser Coordinator and Real Estate Analyst, the ideal Commercial Real Estate Appraisal Review Specialist candidate must be a State Registered Real Estate Appraiser Trainee or State Certified General Real Estate Appraiser required
- MAI Designation, AI GRS Designation or advanced candidate status preferred
