2nd VP, Underwriting Services
***Please note that we are also open to a fully remote work arrangement for this position (in the United States)*** The 2nd Vice President of Underwriting will manage the production underwriting operations of our traditional facultative underwriting services. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring underwriting excellence, managing risk selection, and fostering strong carrier company relationships. The role will collaborate with Underwriting Risk Management, Medical, Actuarial, Claims, and Reinsurance Administration teams to deliver profitable and competitive facultative underwriting support while maintaining the highest standards of technical expertise and market responsiveness. Responsibilities: Subject matter expert in area of life underwriting for individual life applications for term, perm, and survivorship product lines. Preferred experience includes underwriting in the reinsurance space with a solid understanding of both direct and brokerage markets. You will manage and support underwriters in assessing the medical, financial, and lay risk for routine to highly complex cases, and assign the proper risk class and communicate underwriting decisions to the carrier company underwriters. You will provide technical support to the underwriting team through case file management and review, and education and training of underwriters through mentorship. You will participate in and assist in the execution of the strategic direction of the facultative underwriting unit. You will become a key contact for our client companies for day-to-day business as well as external client engagement events. This will involve limited travel to deliver presentations, representing Munich Re at industry events and carrier partners.
