Education and Experience: Experience equivalent to one year experience as a C&I Revenue Process Specialist 1*.

Examination Method: Education and Experience, 100%, for Preferred Service positions.

Overview

Summary: Under general supervision, performs monetary and licensure/permit processing functions in the Revenue Processing Center of average difficulty; and performs related work as required.

Distinguishing Features: This is the working level classification in the C&I Revenue Processing Specialist series. The Revenue Processing Center in the Department of Commerce and Insurance processes a significant variety and quantity of applications and fees for reconciliation. An employee in this class regularly processes payments and permit/license applications into internal databases to reconcile and deposit incoming revenue. This classification also processes incoming mail, services payments and documentation from incoming clients, and assists walk-in customers. This classification differs from the C&I Revenue Processing Specialist 1* in that the latter functions at the learning/training level. This classification differs from the Fiscal Director in that the latter functions in an oversight program capacity.

Responsibilities

  1. Initiates the Regulatory Board and Fire Prevention licensing and permitting process by receiving payments and uploading them into the licensing database.
  2. Provides customer service at the cashier window by greeting the public and receiving cash, checks or credit cards to process with appropriate databases.
  3. Receives all non-licensing database payments from every program area of the Department and processing them into appropriate databases for deposit.
  4. Reconciles daily incoming checks to daily deposited checks.
  5. Conducts calls to collect payments for the fire electrical permit section. Contacts appropriate parties as designated by regulatory boards and the legal department to ensure appropriate services are provided and met.
  6. Processes money move requests from divisions within the Department that utilize revenue databases.
  7. Prepares, separates, and distributes daily incoming mail and packages.
  8. Reconciles and submits daily bank deposits.
  9. Processes Treasury corrections as needed and re-allocates money as requested by program areas.
  10. Creates applications and permits to submit to various regulatory boards for their use. Maintains relevant skill and knowledge needed to build various applications per different specialty.
  11. Processes and updates received refunds in internal databases.
  12. Works with Treasury and various boards to resolve issues with disputed checks, payments, and licensures to ensure that all licensure criteria has been met.
