We are seeking a Branch Administrator to provide administrative support for the Mission Engineering Branch (A6) in the Air and Missile Defense Sector. You will be responsible for day-to-day administrative activities as well as working with a strong branch administrative team. We recognize the Administrator role as a valued partner in reaching our goals.

As a Branch Administrator, you will...

  • Research, experiment, and develop innovativeadministrative approaches that improve efficiencies across the A6 Mission Engineering Branch.
  • Using guidance provided by the A6 branch supervisor, coordinate and monitor branch space (office and lab) utilization and overhead budgets.
  • Coordinate and expedite efforts for a driven set of leaders in a fast-paced environment. This includes proactively executing day-to-day activities, such as maintaining calendars, crafting agendas, and planning meetings.
  • Track and coordinate timely responses from branch leaders and staff to data calls, some of which containadministratively sensitive information.
  • Anticipate and plan for regularly scheduled activities such as performance and salary reviews, group strategy reviews, overhead and capital planning, IRAD calls, etc.
  • Review documentation and correspondence to ensure accurate information and conformance to guidelines.
  • Serve as a resource to all Branch staff in terms of security and property rules and procedures.
  • Develop knowledge and maintain up-to-date training data for a large number of operational practices and procedures in order to provide authoritative information in response to requests.
  • Assist with the development of presentations, to include research, data collection and organization, editing and formatting.
  • Investigate options and oversee the Implementation of modern task management/tracking systems to be utilized by the Mission Engineering Branch.
  • Provide guidance and coordination to the pool of A6 groupadmins to include identifying training opportunities, recruiting new groupadministrators, leading periodic A6 branchadmin meetings, creating and maintaining a positive and proactiveadminculture within the branch, and be the voice for groupadministrative assistants with branch leadership
  • Participate on sector and lab-wide teams focused onadmin-support staff, their functions, and/or relevant sector/lab initiatives.
  • Initiate and coordinate branch activities that provide a time for branch members to meet and gather together.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Possess a High School diploma/equivalent with a minimum of 5 years of administrative experience or a Bachelor's degree in Business Admin, Management, communications or another related business field may be substituted for required administrative experience.
  • Have strong digital literacy, including experience using MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and Power Point.
  • Are highly organized and have the ability to expedite activities to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Can independently analyze, summarize, and make recommendations on administrative and project related activities.
  • Can work well on teams using discretion and tact, and possess excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.
  • Are willing to work non-standard hours from time to time.
  • Have demonstrated initiative to help explore and develop innovative approaches.
  • Are able to obtain a Secret security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

  • Possess a college degree
  • Have experience with operating classified information systems, safeguarding classified materials, and have a thorough understanding of security practices and procedures.
  • Have experience working with collaboration, content creation, and data analysis tools such as Confluence, PowerBI, and ChatGPT
  • Have experience recruiting, training, and developing the careers of administrative professionals.
  • Have a proven track record of driving positive change into an organization's practices and procedures, culture, and overall effectiveness.
  • Have an existing DoD clearance at the Secret level.

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.
