Job Summary: The Accounting Assistant III maintains accurate financial records. Provides accounting and bookkeeping support. Assists University staff in understanding industry standards, current laws, and university policy as it relates to the financial affairs of the University. Provides guidance, trains, and/or may supervise entry-level Accounting Assistants. Additional Department Summary: Provides post-award assistance to assigned departments, centers, faculty and staff, as well as the monitoring of awarded funds. Performs various document preparation, data management and accounting activities of medium to high complexity in support of the College's contract and grant efforts. Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and four (4) years of accounting or bookkeeping experience; OR associate's degree and two (2) years of accounting or bookkeeping experience; OR bachelor's degree. Skills and Knowledge: Excellent writing, data management, bookkeeping, and critical thinking skills. Strong organizational skills. Evaluation and performance analysis skills. Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills. Ability to work independently using sound judgment and solid decision-making skills to solve complex problems and to work through barriers that may impact progress. Ability to track revenues and expenditures. Ability to work well with faculty, staff members, and other project stakeholders. Ability to effectively work in a team environment.
