Description

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Software Quality Program Engineer with a Software Quality Assurance (SQA) emphasis to work in our Environment, Safety, Health and Quality department. Our team works onsite with a 9x80 schedule located out of our Willow Creek Building in Idaho Falls, Idaho with every other Friday off.

You will report to the Quality Program Lead. You will perform as a quality program area Technical Point of Contact or Subject Matter Expert regarding SQA and other areas assigned by management.

Responsibilities Include:



  • Manage and maintain the SQA Program documents to ensure they align with software engineering practices, comply with DOE contractual requirements, and INL QA Program needs. Provide input to the INL QA Program to enable efficient implementation of SQA.
  • Perform reviews of software engineering methodologies, software management practices, and software quality program implementation to ensure company, corporate, and DOE requirements are met. Perform surveillances, audits, or assessments, as assigned, to determine compliance with and implementation of Quality Program requirements.
  • Identify and interpret software engineering and software quality requirements, concepts, techniques, and standards applicable to the INL software quality assurance program.
  • Assist other Quality Engineers in developing appropriate quality program and project requirements documents. Mentor peers and engineers/researchers and answer questions around the software management lifecycle as well as developing and maintaining INL quality program requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of documented processes and systems for implementation of software management and quality requirements and standards, such as NQA-1, IEEE, DOE orders.
  • Provide quality program input to line managers for proper implementation of quality program requirements and process improvement.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:



  • Level 3: Bachelor's degree plus 5 years related experience or master's degree and 2 years related experience, or 11 years' experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree may be considered
  • Level 4: Bachelor's degree plus 9 related experience or master's degree and 6 years related experience, or 15 years' experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree may be considered
  • Relevant experience includes previous experience in the fields of software engineering, software management, quality assurance, and software inspection and testing. Experience working with quality assurance consensus standards.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, and work in an office and field/laboratory environment. The job requires hand/finger dexterity to keyboard or type, handle materials, manipulate tools, and reach with hands and arms. The job may require operation of job-related equipment and driving a vehicle. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with people is required. Job Information:



  • The pay range for this position is: Level 3 ($77,628 - $$159,228) / Level 4 ($93,204 - $191,076). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
  • Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
