Position Summary Information


Primary Purpose
Responsible for overseeing all technology operations management for live events at Pacific. Direct daily activities of technicians, including setup and breakdown, and manage scheduling. Handle onsite inventory and develop standards. Ensure a high level of professional appearance, demeanor, ethics, and image for both self and Pacific. Oversee security, inventory control, transportation, and maintenance of equipment. Provide exceptional customer service by building strong working relationships with internal and external clients and team members. Meet with customers onsite to ensure their needs are met and equipment setups are functioning properly.
Essential Functions

  • Lead and develop a team of AV events technicians (3-10 techs), providing training and development (to improve overall business acumen, technical knowledge, and service to the field), and setting project/event priorities
  • Manage team performance, address employee concerns, maintain adequate staffing levels, and facilitate team development
  • Function as the first line of management for handling client and staff issues.
  • Coordinate and be responsible for AV events, showcasing exceptional organizational skills and confidence.
  • Operates all audio and/or video elements per live event as back-up or as needed
  • Complete set up of production equipment, including audio, video, lighting and scenic equipment, as needed
  • Evaluate and continually improve support processes
  • Offer advanced support for escalated issues from the AV events team.
  • Supervise event coordination and support with the entire AV events team.
  • Collaborate closely with IT and AV Engineers to ensure thorough and complete handoffs for new event space builds.
  • Effectively managing user expectations related to AV enabled room technology.
  • Ensure all audiovisual and web conferencing requirements are met for meetings and events.
  • Create end-user and internal AV team documentation (Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Develop repeatable AV configuration, settings & processes to ensure a consistent high quality AV event experience.
  • Lead audio/video tech rehearsals prior to event with the client
  • Maintain design integrity and quality throughout event including proper operational checks prior to event
  • Manage and maintain cleanliness and organization of dedicated storage areas of all equipment and inventory
  • Employ continual maintenance of equipment and equipment/supply inventory
  • Ensure University standards of health, safety, and sanitation are employed
  • Log support requests and issues reported and maintain their updates.
  • Recommend permanent AV technology installations to DMTS Engineering team.
  • Assist DMTS engineers in the deployment of permanent AV integrations
  • Assist in consultation, and provide services in the design, creation, and delivery of digital media when applicable.
  • Generate reports and contribute to the implementation of permanent resolution to identified problems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma and 60+ credit hours of continuing education required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience hands-on audiovisual technician.
  • Minimum of four (4) years' experience leading live AV enabled events


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in a related field.

  • AVIXA CTS Certification.
  • Experienced in supporting Crestron, DM, Zoom, MS Teams. CAD, software, MSOffice, MSProject, MSVisio, Tri-caster, Black Magic Designs, Lumens Camera Systems, DMX lighting controller, Sketch-up.
  • The ability to provide hands-on support and troubleshoot digital media live events technology systems.
  • Must be able to comfortably discuss computing topics with varying levels of personnel from student to senior management.
  • Must be able to set-up and operate live events audio system(s): (Voice-Lift, Microphone, amplifiers, speakers, sound board).
  • Must be able to set-up and operate live streaming hardware: (Tri-caster, Black Magic and Camera control systems).
  • Must be able to set-up and operate of web-conference meeting & live stream software and hardware such as Zoom, Teams, Youtube Live, FB live.
  • Understanding and deployment of different network connectivity for live events AV: (AVB, Dante, VLAN, subnets, RTSP, Video protocols).
  • Solid written communication skills with the ability to write technical documentation or manuals.
  • Must be able to manage projects and project teams and be familiar with project management concepts.
  • Adepts at reading and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to conduct research into emerging technology issues and products.
  • Exceptional communication skills including interacting regularly with Live events coordinators, electricians, other trades.
  • Ability to maintain a professional and positive attitude in a fast-paced creative environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Must be detail oriented, have multi-tasking abilities and handle tight, high stress deadlines.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented collaborative environment.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Primarily office setting, AV closets and /or data center with exposure to noise and cooler temperatures. Constant sitting and computer usage, frequent walking and standing required. May require occasional bending, stooping, and squatting. Simple grasping, frequent use of computer keyboard. Proper use of hand tools. Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
May require working, nights, weekends and holidays.
Hiring Range $41.64 - $57.26
