About This Role

The Office of Student Financial Assistance seeks applicants to work within a team setting managing the student loan programs and federal Pell grant program. This position along with another team member will be responsible for all aspects of loan and Pell grant processing, ensuring that all regulatory and compliance matters are met. This position also assists with other processing tasks, such as awarding and/or adjusting financial aid, researching loan or Pell grant eligibility on a national database, resolving data issues in file transmissions, and reconciling the loan and Pell grant programs. This is accomplished by:



  • Transmitting files daily with the US Department of Education or other entities and resolving any issues with the file transmission,
  • Querying the student system to identify issues with loan/Pell records that need resolved,
  • Reviewing reports to reconcile programs monthly,
  • Researching regulatory and compliance issues to ensure proper administration of programs,
  • Assisting in system testing to ensure efficient, accurate processing of electronic files,
  • Assessing the student's eligibility for Title VII health professions loan by reviewing protocol provided by HRSA

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Requires one year of relevant experience.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study
  • 1-2 years experience in performing accounting tasks such as reconciliation
  • 1-2 years experience working for a large, post-secondary educational institution
  • 1-2 years experience utilizing a third party higher education student information or accounting system (ex. PeopleSoft, Banner, etc.)
  • Strong track record of collaboratively working across business units toward a common, mission critical outcomes
  • Robust customer service experience requiring ability to explain complex regulatory/policy rules


Other Requirements:



  • Individuals may not be in default on a federal student loan and/or owe an overpayment on a federal student grant - to ensure that the individual may be issued access to various U.S. Department of Education databases critical to carrying out this position's job duties.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship
