Position Summary |
UNC-Chapel Hill School of Nursing is seeking candidates for a Simulation Nurse Specialist position, a 12-month
EHRA non-faculty position. The Simulation Nurse Specialist will provide instructional support services in
EISLE and assist faculty in developing instruction for the simulation center. They will provide facilitation for a variety of simulation experiences, including manikin-based, Virtual Reality, virtual simulation, tabletop simulations, team building simulations, and other simulated experiences. They will provide faculty development around simulation-based learning. They will assist with scheduling simulation lab activities. They will conduct routine maintenance of the simulation lab space, task trainers, and healthcare simulators (manikins); the setup and breakdown of simulation events; and some basic skills just-in-time review will comprise the bulk of the duties associated with this role. Other duties will include assisting with undergraduate student practice and evaluation of selected skills on an as-needed basis. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. May require terminal degree and licensure. |

Simulation-based education knowledge and expertise
Proficiency in Microsoft Office |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
-Ability to effectively manage several projects
-Strong organizational skills, including being detail-oriented and knowledge in varied simulation platforms (Gaumard,
CAE, Laerdal)
-Knowledge of the International Nursing Association of Clinical Simulation and Learning (
INACSL) Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice
-Collaborate with faculty and staff in evaluating and refining simulation-based learning
-Possess growth mindset
-At least 1 or more of relevant experience.
-Demonstrate comparable training in simulation or other health sciences.
-Ability to work evening and/or weekends, as needed, with appropriate notice. |
Special Physical/Mental Requirements |
Ability to lift < 75 lbs with assistance
Ability to work safely around healthcare devices (i.e., needles and other various healthcare equipment)
Ability to assist in transport of equipment and supplies between buildings as needed. |
