The Nurse Manager for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a dynamic and experienced registered nurse leader responsible for the overall clinical, administrative, and operational functions of one or more ICU units within Providence Medical Center. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care, fosters a collaborative and efficient work environment, and promotes professional development among the nursing staff. The Nurse Manager will be a key driver in maintaining exceptional standards of critical care and contributing to positive patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Provides strong clinical leadership and serves as a role model for professional nursing practice within the ICU.
  • Ensures adherence to established policies, procedures, and evidence-based practices to deliver optimal patient care.
  • Monitors and evaluates the quality and appropriateness of nursing care provided, implementing quality improvement.
  • Collaborates with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, patients, and families to develop and implement individualized plans of care.
  • Proactively identifies and resolves clinical issues and ensures effective communication among the care team.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Evaluates staff performance, provides constructive feedback, and conducts regular performance appraisals.
  • Identifies staff educational needs and facilitates opportunities for professional growth and development, including in-services, continuing education, and certifications.
  • Monitors and analyzes unit metrics, identifying trends and implementing strategies for improvement.
  • Collaborates with other departments to ensure seamless patient flow and efficient operations.


Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

  • Must have a current and valid state license as a Registered Nurse. BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.
  • A minimum of two years supervisory/management experience necessary.
  • Minimum of three years of continuous clinical experience in a clinical/acute care setting.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), required for all hires after 1/11/2021.
