Summary
Responsible to directs patients to exam room, obtain and record accurate routine patient vital signs, prepare patients for examination, and assist with performing procedures, injections and other treatments as ordered by provider. Also responsible to provide support to the leadership team by assisting with training more junior staff, facilitating on-going education and functioning as a 'go-to' for peers. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions -Acts as mentor for the medical assistant staff, leads by example, fosters staff development and assists in training other Medical Assistants. -Assists physicians and nurses with procedures and treatments as directed. -Interview patients to obtain medical information, record medical history/vital statistics and measure their vital signs, weight, and height. -Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing. -Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians' instructions to patients. -Perform test as ordered by clinician, such as EKG, immunization administration, nebulizer treatment, or spirometry. -Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies. -Perform general office duties, such as answering telephones, taking dictation, or completing insurance forms. Education High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Associate's Degree Medical Assisting preferred Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred Medical Technician [New Hampshire] - New Hampshire Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy preferred Experience direct MA experience or medical field work 2-3 years required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Excellent communication skills. - Ability to prioritize tasks in complex and busy environment. - Accuracy and attention to detail. - Comply with all local, state and federal privacy and confidentiality rules and regulations. - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. - Managing one's own time and the time of others.
