  • Salary Range: $61,008-$74,008. Salary is determined by the NIH based on the candidate's experience.
  • Location: Endeavor Health Cardiovascular Institute, Glenview, IL / Evanston, IL
  • Full Time/Part Time: Full Time
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, [hours and flexible work schedules]

Position Summary:
Endeavor Health Cardiovascular Institute is seeking a research fellow for a two-year program focused on advanced cardiac imaging and artificial intelligence-based research. This fellowship provides hands-on experience in machine learning, deep learning, and computer vision, with applications in cardiac imaging. Fellows will collaborate with leading Cardiology and Radiology experts and gain exposure to cutting-edge imaging technologies and AI-driven clinical research.

What you will do:

  • Develop expertise in AI applications for cardiac imaging, including machine learning, supervised learning, and deep learning.
  • Complete AI-related coursework and certification through partnerships with MIT Sloan and the University of Chicago.
  • Gain knowledge of cardiac CT and MRI physics through mentorship and structured didactic sessions.
  • Work closely with imaging mentors on AI-driven research projects in cardiac MRI, CT, and echocardiography.
  • Assist in developing and validating new MRI sequences and AI tools for cardiac imaging.
  • Conduct clinical research studies to evaluate AI-enhanced imaging techniques, leading to high-impact journal publications.
  • Collaborate with structural heart teams to integrate AI for predicting outcomes in TAVR, M-TEER, and T-TEER procedures.
  • Utilize 3D printing technology and Endeavor Health Simulation Lab to model structural heart procedures and devices.
  • Develop and validate AI models using clinical cardiac imaging datasets.
  • Implement supervised learning models for lesion detection and segmentation.
  • Publish research findings and present at conferences.
  • Address ethical considerations in AI applications, ensuring responsible use in clinical practice.
  • Collaborate with existing Endeavor Health training programs in Internal Medicine, General Cardiology, Advanced Cardiac Imaging, Interventional Cardiology, Vascular Medicine, and Cardiac Amyloidosis
  • Opportunities to participate in didactic lecture series in area(s) of research interest

What you will need:

  • Education: Doctoral degree (M.D. or Ph.D.) in Cardiology, Radiology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Background in clinical research, imaging physics, or machine learning preferred. Experience with data analysis and manuscript preparation
