The Initiative in Ancient and Contemporary Philosophy, led by Professor Katja Maria Vogt, fosters a collaborative community across academic disciplines including Philosophy and Classical Studies. It hosts a research group, a series with guest speakers called Workshop in Ancient and Contemporary Philosophy, as well as a summer work-in-progress workshop. Vogt's Initiative in Ancient and Contemporary Philosophy invites applications for a postdoctoral research scholar who will work in one or several of the following fields: ancient philosophy in any tradition, including but not limited to classical Mediterranean; contemporary philosophy that is in dialogue with one or several ancient philosophical traditions. The postdoctoral research scholar will be appointed in an academic department in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences relevant to their own field. The postdoctoral research scholar will be responsible for pursuing their own research and for contributing to the Initiative's activities. Regarding the latter, the fellow will be involved in the Workshop in Ancient and Contemporary Philosophy. The appointment is initially for one year, with the possibility of renewal for a second year based on performance and funding. The fellow may also have the opportunity to contribute to teaching, though the details are to be determined. Maximally, the fellow will have a 1-1 teaching load. The ideal candidate will have innovative research in their field of specialization, as well as outstanding motivation, drive, and a demonstrated aptitude for research. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Minimum Degree: Ph.D., or doctorate in Philosophy, by the time of appointment. Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree in Philosophy, experience conducting independent research. Preferred Qualifications: Competence in several fields relevant to the initiative, experience in teaching.
