Director of Maintenance (Medical Manufacturing Equipment)

About the Role: We are seeking a Director-Level Maintenance Leader to oversee and optimize all aspects of manufacturing equipment maintenance and repair. This role involves setting strategic direction, establishing goals, ensuring operational effectiveness, and meeting the needs of internal customers across all Gore Medical plants.

This role will be located at one of our facilities in either Phoenix or Flagstaff, Arizona

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, train, and support Local Maintenance Leaders to ensure exceptional performance and adherence to operational standards
  • Develop and implement long-term maintenance strategies aligned with organizational and shop goals
  • Create and enforce policies and procedures to ensure optimal team performance and manufacturing equipment performance
  • Plan and manage the maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficiency
  • Work closely with other leaders to ensure maintenance strategies support overall business objectives
  • Oversee the safety program and ensure adherence to quality standards
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement
  • Optimize the allocation of resources, including associates, equipment, budget, and space to maximize efficiency
  • Manage change within the maintenance function, including the adoption of new lean practices, technologies and processes

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, facility management, business administration (or related field) OR minimum 10 years' experience in a manufacturing leadership/manufacturing support leadership (including maintenance leadership)
  • Proven expertise in leading and managing teams, with a strong background in team development and mentorship
  • Experience using maintenance-management tools (e.g., CMMS, EAM, WO software) and Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing key performance indicators to manage and plan
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with customer teams or cross-functional groups to accomplish a goal
  • Proven commitment to continuous improvement and familiarity with lean manufacturing principles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with various stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement long-term strategies that align with organizational goals
  • Ability to travel up to 10%



Desired Qualifications:



  • Strong knowledge of maintenance, critical spares and repair processes
  • Strong knowledge of FDA, ISO, or other regulated quality systems
  • Experience developing and managing budgets
