Position Overview:

Ameresco has an opportunity for an Operations and Maintenance Technician to join our Alternative Fuels Team at a methane gas turbine plant, located in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ameresco is looking for a highly motivated individual to operate the plant and all associated equipment. The O&M Technician will work a staggered 8-hour shift, Wednesday - Sunday.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assistance with daily operations, maintenance, and minor repair, drainage distribution systems, and related power plant support equipment.

  • Provide assistance with equipment inspection, maintenance tasks, troubleshooting and diagnoses of landfill gas to energy plant equipment and systems.

  • Coordinate, schedule and participate with subcontractors, equipment service work, inspections and maintenance activities as required.

  • Compliance with plant specifications to ensure timely service and reliable product delivery.

  • Perform frequent rounds of plant and report any abnormalities.

  • Perform proper shift turnovers at beginning and end of shifts.

  • Prepare and maintain daily reports.

  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

  • Adhere to an assigned work schedule including the availability to be on-call as assigned by supervisor.

  • Learn and operate various control systems for the plant.

  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures for plant start-up and shut down.

  • Stay within operating parameters set by Manager and notify management of any production problems.

  • Maintain good housekeeping practices.

  • Maintain shift logs for all shift activities.

  • Field trouble calls from customers and document as required.

  • Adhere to all company and customer safety requirements and policies.

  • Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, regulatory and jurisdictional hazardous material and safety standards, practices, and codes.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Minimum 2 years equipment experience using mechanical, electrical, instrument or control system skills.

  • Valid US driver's license.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience performing mechanical maintenance on blowers, compressors, and equipment.

  • Experience with rotating equipment, gas turbines or gas engines is desirable.

  • Must be able to successfully complete position training and testing requirements.

  • Knowledge electrical power equipment and gas plant operations experience is desirable.

  • Basic computer skills including e-mail and data entry using Microsoft Outlook, Word, & Excel.

  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs & transport equipment & tools in excess of 300 lbs.

  • Strong verbal, written, computer communication and organization skills.

  • May require travel and flexibility for 'on call' support or varied schedule needs.
