Founded in 1929, Hallie Q. Brown Community Center, Inc. is an African American, nonprofit social services agency committed to serving the needs of community members of all ages, abilities, races, cultures and economic levels in the Summit-University neighborhood and greater Twin Cities area. Wages

$25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Benefits

Generous paid time off (PTO), plus 11 paid holidays per year; 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance for employees and their families: Health Savings Account (HSA). There is employer paid basic life insurance with the option for additional coverage paid by the employees. The employer pays for Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) and short- and long-term disability insurance. HQB sponsors a retirement plan with automatic enrollment at 3% and a 5% employer match and immediate vesting, plus up to a 10% employer contribution after one year of service.

Schedule

This position will have a set schedule during normal business hours, however due to demands and schedules of the Executive Director, the hours for this position may sometimes vary between 7:00am and 6:00pm, with occasional evenings and weekends depending upon organizational events.

A Typical Day in the Life...

A typical day as Hallie Q. Brown's Executive Assistant provides an opportunity to keep organizational priorities moving forward by leading as an ambassador and primary support for Hallie Q. Brown's Executive Director. Responsibilities will include the following:



  • Acting as the point of contact between the Executive Director and internal or external colleagues and partners.
  • Managing meeting requests with great attention to detail by ensuring key issues and matters are efficiently addressed.
  • Triaging emails and drafting responses in a timely manner and determining the appropriate course of action, referral, or response.
  • Communicating and coordinating on behalf of the Executive Director the logistics of all meeting types, including Board meetings, employee check-ins, and team off-sites.
  • Taking meticulous meeting minutes and producing reports and presentations.
  • Maintaining a high level of service and utmost discretion when directing inquiries away from the Executive Director to help better manage their calendar and workflow.
  • Reflecting the Executive Director's style and Hallie Q. Brown's company culture when carrying out activities.


Who You Are



  • You have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, a minimum of three years of equivalent experience and training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience/training.
  • It is preferred if you have previous experience serving as an Executive Assistant to a senior leader.
  • You demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission of Hallie Q. Brown Community Center.
  • You possess knowledge and experience working with culturally and racially diverse populations in lower socio-economic conditions.
  • You possess excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • You possess strong project management skills, attention to detail, and a proven ability to multitask.
  • You thrive in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment with the ability to simultaneously drive towards clarity and effective solutions.
  • You have a valid driver's license, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to meet Hallie Q. Brown's driving record requirements. Please note that if the license was not issued in the state of Minnesota, you have 60 days after becoming a Minnesota resident in which to apply for your Minnesota driver's license or permit.
