Job Description
Obtains two-dimensional cardiac images from patients using high frequency sound. Transports echocardiogram equipment to patients' units to run tests. Performs other ancillary departmental duties.
Job Responsibility
1.Reviews patient chart for doctor's orders and patient's diagnosis and history.
2.Establishes good rapport with patients, families and peer members.
3.Operates echocardiograph equipment to perform echocardiograms.
4.Records on VCR 2D echo images and VCR M-mode tracings.
5.Records m-mode tracings and measures required data.
6.Ability to perform Echo Doppler testing, as required.
7.Assists in interpretation of echocardiograms as assigned.
8.Generates and maintains echocardiographic records per established policies and procedures.
9.Maintains echocardiographic equipment and Echo Lab.
10.Keeps management informed of needed supplies and related imaging issues, as needed.
10.Makes appointments and processes out patients when necessary.
11.Performs related duties as required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work requires frequent standing, bending, stooping, walking, and pushing equipment on wheels weighing as much as 500 lbs to various locations in hospital. Occasional sitting, occasional lifts objects from 20 to 150 lbs. Frequently lifts, moves and positions patients of all weights.
Job Qualification
Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound OR Diagnostic Echocardiography program, required.
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) OR Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), required.
Prior related imaging experience, preferred.
