Project Manager

Primary Location: Pleasanton, California

Day to day responsibilities:

Project Planning and Management:

* Lead the planning and implementation of technical projects, ensuring projects are completed according to the outlined objectives.

* Develop detailed project plans to track progress and ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope, and within budget.

* Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.

* Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques.

* Perform risk management to minimize project risks.

* Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques.

* Report and escalate to management as needed.

* Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.

PMO Skills:

* Develop and maintain project management standards and methodologies within the PMO.

* Ensure alignment of projects with organizational goals and strategic objectives.

* Provide regular updates to the PMO Director regarding project status, risks, and issues.

* Collaborate with the PMO to ensure consistent project delivery practices across the organization.

Agile and Scrum Management:

* Implement and manage Agile and Scrum methodologies to ensure efficient project delivery.

* Facilitate daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

* Coach team members on Agile principles and practices to enhance team performance and project outcomes.

* Ensure the team is focused on delivering high-quality products and meeting customer expectations.

IT Application Delivery:

* Oversee the delivery of IT applications, ensuring they meet business requirements and technical specifications.

* Coordinate with development teams to ensure timely and quality delivery of software applications.

* Manage the integration of new applications with existing systems and infrastructure.

* Ensure compliance with IT governance and security standards.

Multi-Vendor and Multi-Team Management:

* Manage relationships with multiple vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of services and products.

* Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, QA, operations, and business stakeholders.

* Ensure effective communication and collaboration among all teams involved in the project.

* Resolve conflicts and issues that arise between teams and vendors to maintain project momentum.

Leadership and Communication:

* Provide leadership and direction to project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

* Communicate project goals, objectives, and expectations clearly to all stakeholders.

* Prepare and distribute progress reports, including project status, risks, and issues.

* Conduct post-project evaluations to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements and apply lessons learned to future projects.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.

Over 15 years of experience in project management, with a strong background in IT application delivery.

PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile certification is a plus.

Proven experience managing multi-vendor and multi-team projects.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in project management software and tools

Other Compensation:

Applications will be accepted until April 30th , 2025.

The annual salary for this position is between $87,000 to $141,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
