Revenue Tax Auditor

The Erie Regional Section is seeking a motivated Revenue Tax Auditor with strong attention to detail and a desire conduct audits that will be used to determine compliance of applicable tax laws and regulations. In this role, you will conduct fair and equitable audits in various areas to include sales and use tax, liquid fuels tax, gaming, or corporate tax audit programs to determine taxpayer compliance with applicable laws and regulations, effectively and efficiently. In addition, you will prepare for audit examinations by performing preliminary planning and reviewing taxpayer reporting and audit history as well as any special instructions included with each assignment. It is essential to demonstrate professionalism as you communicate with taxpayers or their authorized representatives to schedule audits or resolve questions in the most efficient communication method available. Utilizing exceptional organizational skills as you prepare and assemble schedules, work papers, audit forms and written narratives into audit reports that are in accordance with applicable tax manuals and forwards to the supervisor/lead auditor for review will be crucial.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, ad hoc. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Erie.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Successful completion of the Revenue Tax Auditor Trainee program (Commonwealth title);or
• One year of professional accounting or auditing experience and a bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 15 college credits in accounting, tax, or auditing;;or
• Eligibility to sit for the Certified Public Accountant examination.

Legal Requirements:

• This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075) which requires you to pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment. Under Pub 1075, acceptance of a conditional offer of employment will require submission to and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to: a fingerprint-based federal records check; a PA State Police clearance; a check of local law enforcement agencies where you have lived, worked, and/or attended school within the last five (5) years; and a citizenship/residency verification.
