About the Role

The Gas Meter Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of gas meters and associated equipment. This role involves managing a team of technicians, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and maintaining accurate records. The Gas Meter Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the gas meter system.

***Salary Transparency: For those residing in New York, the salary for this role is at $80,000/year.***

What You'll Do

Supervision and Leadership:

  • Supervise and provide guidance to a team of gas meter technicians.
  • Schedule and assign daily work tasks to ensure timely completion of meter installations, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide training, and foster professional development within the team.

Installation and Maintenance:

  • Oversee the installation of new gas meters and the replacement of outdated or malfunctioning meters.
  • Ensure regular maintenance and calibration of meters to guarantee accurate readings.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to gas meters and associated equipment.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Stay updated on industry standards and regulatory requirements related to gas meters and distribution systems.

Record Keeping and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of meter installations, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on team activities, meter performance, and any incidents or issues encountered.
  • Utilize computerized systems to track work orders, inventory, and other relevant data.

Customer Service:

  • Address customer inquiries and complaints related to gas meters.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure customer satisfaction and resolve service issues promptly.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to customers as needed.
  • Manage inventory of meters, tools, and parts to ensure adequate supply for ongoing operations.
  • Coordinate with procurement to order necessary equipment and materials.
  • Implement inventory control procedures to minimize waste and loss.

Other duties as assigned.

About You

Must Haves:

  • Education: High School Degree or GED
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must have at least 1 year of experience in gas meter installation, exchange, maintenance, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of gas meter systems, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.

Nice to Have:

  • 2 or more years of experience in gas meter installation, exchange, maintenance, or a related field; 1 year of continuous work with the same employer, and/or 6 or more months working outdoors

Drug/Alcohol Testing:

  • Drug/alcohol testing is required
  • Drug/alcohol testing required per Non-Regulatory requirements for employees working with water, electric, and meters
  • Drug/alcohol testing required per Federal DOT regulations for employees working with gas meters

Where We Work

Employees will begin their day at the local office where they will pick up their company vehicle, equipment, and assignments for the day.
