The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join our team in a full-time position to work within the division of Gastroenterology. Columbia University Irving Medical Center's Department of Pediatrics is a world leader in providing care for children. Our mission areas include Healthcare, Education and Research. We offer care for our patients in over 25 specialty areas as well as individualized care for complex cases. Our Residency, Fellowship and Graduate programs are among the best in the Nation. Our Clinical, Translational and Basic Science research features collaborations across specialties and stretches from the bench to bedside. We also have several active Clinical trials available to our patients. This position will support the department by providing direct patient care, clinical support and care coordination to our Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology with a focus on the inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) program

Responsibilities

Clinical:



  • Care of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and general pediatric Gastroenterology in the out-patient setting.
  • History-taking, physical examinations, and clinical decision making.
  • Management of enteral nutrition and devices, including nasogastric, gastrostomy, and jejunostomy tubes.
  • Central line access.
  • Triage and management of telephone calls from parents about active symptoms as well as lab and test results.
  • Patient and parent education.
  • Cross-coverage of NPs and physicians.
  • Management and support of treatment plans for infusion-based services and subcutaneous self-injection medications.
  • Patient care coordination with home care agencies, medical device companies and schools.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Administrative:



  • Development of protocols for safe delivery of patient care and efficient operations of Division.
  • Ordering of appropriate medication, nutritionals, and supplies.
  • Secure approvals from insurance companies.
  • Support clinical programs in IBD as member of IBD team with opportunity to lead projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.


This role is onsite.

Minimum Qualifications



  • Requires master's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus two years of related experience.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience in Pediatrics and/or Pediatric Gastroenterology.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication ability.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.


Other Requirements



  • Current NYS NP License, maintain and renew when necessary. NP's are required to have a NYS license to qualify for the position.
  • Current NYS RN License.
  • NP Board Certification.
  • DEA License.
  • BCLS and ACLS certification.
  • Able to meet New York-Presbyterian Hospital credentialing requirements.
  • Ability to work fully onsite.
