Job Summary: Route domestic outbound and inbound shipments utilizing knowledge of best carrier selection while considering customer needs. Quickly and effectively solve problems and negotiate solutions to delayed, short or damaged deliveries. Work to file and resolve claim issues while maintaining good working relationships with transportation companies. Audit freight bills, participate in freight studies, and document results for analysis.

Primary Duties:



  1. Maintain the flow of orders from packing to shipping stage
  2. Provide rate quotes to sales department considering best mode of transportation
  3. Carrier selection through rate analysis for quotes and routing instructions
  4. OS&D follow through and claim work
  5. Provide subjective reason for all late orders and document results in weekly reports



Key Responsibilities:



  • Develop expedited, small package, LTL, and TL freight quotes
  • Provide customer service on damaged or lost shipments
  • File freight claims with carriers
  • Arrange shipments with third party carriers and from vendors or drop ship locations
  • Audit freight bills for carrier accuracy and to assign department accountability
  • Assist with freight studies to determine correct routing for a shipment type or trade lane



Specifications:



  • Excellent verbal & written communication and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organization/time management skills and the ability to work independently
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of the shipping/transportation industry
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required



Job Relationship:



  • Reports directly to the Logistics Supervisor.



Authority:



  • Authority to stop production for non-conforming quality or safety compliance
  • To support company policies and procedures
  • Report non-conforming material and safety non-compliance to management
  • Make decisions on accept or reject according to quality specifications
  • Make logical decisions based on experience and/or company policy
