Key Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in environmental management or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of field experience in excavation/construction.
- Proficiency in Erosion and Sedimentation Control, Best Management Practices (BMPs), and stormwater management.
- Familiarity with environmental state permitting programs within our operational area.
Summary of Position Kinsley Construction is actively seeking an experienced and motivatedEnvironmental Compliance Officerto join our expanding site team in Dagsboro, DE. Reporting directly to the Environmental Compliance Manager, the Environmental Compliance Officer will be primarily responsible for ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and Local environmental regulations at construction job sites. This role involves safeguarding natural resources, adherence to environmental permits, and overseeing programs associated with construction activities.The position will work out of Kinsley's Dagsboro, DE office location and primarily cover Kinsley's activity in southern portions of Delaware and Maryland, from bay to bay. This positionrequires the ability to safely navigate uneven and challenging terrain in all weather conditions and throughout all seasons. Typical Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Conduct thorough site inspections to ensure compliance with stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs) and approved Erosion and Sedimentation Control plans.
- Maintain familiarity with applicable local and state environmental laws and standards.
- Prepare detailed written reports documenting observations and action items for each project.
- Collaborate with project personnel to address environmental concerns promptly.
- Stay updated on changes to State NPDES, Waterways and Wetlands, and state General Permit (GP) programs.
- Facilitate communication and education on environmental matters within the Kinsley team.
- Participate in pre-construction meetings and field inspections with governing agencies.
- Assist in minor maintenance and repair tasks during routine inspections.
- Support Site Superintendents in implementing BMPs and E&S controls.
- Aid in obtaining approvals for project site plan changes.
- Identify and implement strategies to enhance project efficiency.
- Provide plan reviews, technical support, and liaison with environmental authorities.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as needed.
Experience & Education
- Bachelor's degree in environmental management or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of field experience in excavation/construction required.
- Strong commitment to environmental stewardship and compliance.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Federal, State, and Local environmental laws.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Honesty, responsibility, attention to detail, and self-motivation.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Respect for and willingness to work with Federal, State, and Local authorities.
- Familiarity with the construction industry preferred.
